Video Ref Bunker

I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to. The fans deserve to know how they come to their decisions. Let them complain, then publicly answer them. Transparency is a good thing.

Because most of the time the coaches are wrong. Take for example the cows game when the entire post game press conference was dedicated to how the bunker got it wrong. When infact the only decision they fked up was the gilette try.

Paul kent on nrl 360 has been saying for weeks the nrl should come out and put coaches in their place by publicly stating when the coaches just dont know the rules.

Forgive me for not giving a **** about anything Paul Kent has to say about anything.

Is it possible to agree with both of these statements. Paul Kents last name has a slight spelling error for mine.... But nothing gets on my goat more then the way the media/coaches seem to death ride the referees for the sake of it.... Often times gets more coverage then a great game of football. If the NRL came out and put them in their places (Give Locky the job he's on the rules committee - who could disagree with him) it would do a world of good. Especially for the casual fan who doesn't know the rules as well and takes what the media/coaches say on the matter as gold.

The problem is the NRL are trying to achieve perfection from something that can and never will be perfect. Decisions are not always black and white.

I kind of feel that all the video ref/bunker/referral crap has done is just made it easier for the media and coaches to bag the officials and refs, the system as it is now highlights any errors or controversial calls and shoves it in everyones face.

The issue with silence for mine, it means the NRL aren't held accountable when they do make a balls up. If they added an actual complaint avenue, where they had to reply publicly to questions asked by the teams, then fine, do that. But they seem to not want to have any complaints, or anything to allude that they get it wrong.

A small blog style post on their website every week publicly explaining controversial decisions would be great IMO. Sweeping it under the rug and not being allowed to talk about it is fucking stupid.

I agree with this rule to stop the whinging in press conferences ala Green against us. However, there must be transparency from the NRL in regards to controversial decisions.

Fox Sports normally shows the bunker decisions including audio comments from the person responsible, which is something Nine should do as well, in name of said transparency.

Like Nashy said, there should be an avenue for NRL teams to argue ref/ bunker decisions, where the NRL can publicly explain whether or not they were right and why.
