With all due respect it’s not that simple anymore.

Wayne of old beat St George in consecutive grand finals. The one this year couldn't get passed them in a semi-final in front of 45,000 passionate fans at our home ground.

In fact we got thrashed. In fact we allowed it to happen without a wimper.

Wasn't a good look for us and it won't be for Souths either IMHO.

Souths are the oldest and most successful club in the competition and to be able to add coaching that club to his legacy before retiring would be a no brainer. Good luck to him.

I dunno guys, I like the idea of signing on a young, promising coach who the club can lean on for many years, but there are just too many unknowns at the moment for my liking, especially the future of Lodge and TPJ in particular. They're both supreme talents and losing them over a coaching gamble (and it is a gamble, Seibold has one year under his belt) reeks of a disaster waiting to happen.

I've seen our club come off second best in situations like this too often in recent times to be optimistic about it. And what of 2019? Is Wayne's heart going to be in it, or can we just resign ourselves to another nothing season right now?

Can’t like this enough! I really didn’t want a coach with any prior connections to the club. Someone who will come in and put everyone on notice will be ideal for the likes of Milford McCullough etc. who knows, maybe we will actually have some set attacking plays next year too?
