The form line for Wayne's assistant coaches stepping up into NRL roles and being successful is pretty abysmal, I guess that is why.

But JD has a far better track record than both of them put together.

I'm just perplexed as to why our fan base is not keen to see one of our own promoted to take over from Benny. There has been hardly a word of support for him.
I think we would heartily support him but our attention is still focused on the now, I think most of us would be happier now after White emphatically endorsed WB for 2019 and I'd say next year you will see an upswell of support for JD especially if he is WBs recommendation. My thoughts are that most of us want stability to be the norm and talk of succession indicates anything but stability.

I hear you mate. Just my opinion, but I think we will rue the day we let JD go if we do.

The Lurker

DO I SMELL A REBELLION?

Who was the member of the Brisbane camp secretly cheering the Cowboys last week?

This bloke knows if the Broncos keep losing and miss the 8, it will be easier to get rid of Wayne Bennett ASAP.

Nasty stuff.

Wouldn’t be hard to have a better track record than Steve Price and Rick Stone...

The ones Wayne has promoted and suggested were worthy of NRL head coaching include Henjak, Griffin, Price and Stone...

I’m quite certain the Broncos board are aware of this...

I'm not saying many other clubs wouldn't be thrilled to have a record we have had this year to date ...

what i am saying, is that this club and this forum expect more than scraping into the 8 (assuming we even do) ...

the fans of this club have never accepted scraping into the 8, hell we could even miss it this year. and if another coach missed the 8, then a very large portion of this forum would be calling for him to be burned at the stake.

Burned at the stake... getting off a bit lightly I reckon!

If you can't read and interpret what I type, please don't bother responding. The game is noted, usually, perhaps wrongly, of becoming a professional sport at the turn of the SL.

Now, let me simplify the question for you.

Why do you think we should give a stuff about a coaches accolades from prior to 1988, given it was a completely different game, with different players, styles, rules etc.?

IE. Why would what a coach did in 1988's game, make a lick of difference to what he does in 2018?

I interpreted it just fine so I am happy to respond. Your the condescending angry ant who is supposedly staff on this board.

You think you are making the point that what worked to coach a team in 1985 doesn't work now. Everybody knows this. You made in regard to insulting someone else's comment about the importance of the BRL back in the day mixed with talking about on the professional era counts. The professional ear didn't start during super league by the way, it evolved over 15-20 years.

That will do me for this board.

Everyone is on about a rookie coach, but remember Wayne was once a rookie too.

Yeah but we want an experienced coach with our premiership window open. Will have a great mix of youth and experience for 2019 -20 , so our odds will be high so we need a coach who knows how to win them.

He doesn't though.

Henjak ISC Grand Final with Toowoomba in 2000.
Broncos assistant in 2006 for premiership.

Griffin
NYC Grand Final in 2008
Broncos assistant
ISC premiership 2006 with Redcliffe.

JD.
Pride Premiership and state championship- wasn't available to the other two.
Dragons premiership and state championship
Broncos and Cowboys assistant

JD 50 ISC games with Pride 39 wins- one State title, two minor premiership, one premiership.

The thing I love about JD was the Pride went out the back door in 2013 didn't win finals game after coming first, next year same situation presents itself and they win the Grand Final.

Kevvie 106 ISC Ipswich and Toowoomba- one Premiership with Toowoomba in 2001 and one Grand Final with Jets. 67% winning.

Griffin 105 games with Souths and Redcliffe- Souths would bring his record way down- they were terrible but he was learning his trade and then got the Dolphins gig and won in 2006. 50% winning

Henjak only one season in ISC but made the Grand final and lost.

JD has the state titles but that wasn't available to the other guys but there is not a huge difference just based on numbers or success.

I'm picturing him saying "they want me to step down" as a smart ass response to a shit journo.

What was the point you're trying to make here. I dispute your professional transition period.

That was my point. Clearly, everyone doesn't, if you had read this thread, you would see that.

This isn't an airport. No need to announce your departure.
