Wayne tried to come out of this looking like the faultless victim. He failed badly. I used to respect the man deeply and was in favour of keeping him here until he retired, but now it’s looking like the club made the right move.

Seibold wouldn’t have reacted as he did without reason.
That's totally unfair. No one has come out of this looking good.

Seibold went leaking confidential information to the media, that's a shit move. The Broncos board were supposedly negotiation with the Rabbits the whole time while telling Bennett, and the public that they were not. The Rabbits were supposedly treating Seibold like shit.

Everyone comes out of this a loser, I just hope Seibold is an excellent man manager who can get the playing group focussed and committed for 2019.

I honestly believe Wayne knew he was not going to be coaching us next year. He just kept feeding us bullshit to to make himself look wronged when it eventually happened. Besides, he had to keep all of his devout worshippers happy!

Like most sports It was our players that made us great. Wayne deserves some credit, but not the amount some people are giving him.

The Brisbane Broncos Board has terminated coach Wayne Bennett's contract with immediate effect.

The terms of this termination are confidential.

The Broncos thank him for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best in the future.

An announcement about the club's coach for the 2019 season will be made soon.

The Broncos would like to thank members, sponsors, corporate partners, players and staff for their patience and understanding through this period of transition.

Gotta say mate, your constant 'reporting' here on BHQ has been pretty impressive in keeping us up to date with the latest tweets/shenanigans lol

That's what it looks like to me, they essentially waited it out to get him sacked without pay, because any coach in the world is going to be making some decisions for the following year.

Smart move to save money, shit move for the fans.

I'm a huge WB fan but I'm a Broncos fan first, and I really couldn't care less if he's sacked as long as Seibold comes through and is actually an improvement. The way Souths faded out last year is hugely concerning, and we've signed him on huge money for 5 years, so for all our sake he better be a genuinely good coach or it's going to be a long few years.

I’ve always liked Wayne, but we’re due for change. We may be successful, we may not be, but I think it’s necessary regardless. I’ve said in another thread, that I want to see us play ‘better’ overall before I start demanding premierships.

Should we have given Wayne his extension? Probably, but the board decided against it, and being a public company, their necks are on the line too if this doesn’t come off.

People will be worried about the playing group, and rightly, but they themselves keep saying ‘it’s a business’, so we’ll see how many mean it. They should want to play for the Broncos, not Wayne Bennett.

Bennett will be getting his payout, or there is going to be more of a shit fight with it going through court.
If there is any proof of him speaking to players from other clubs which it appears there definitely is, he won't be getting a pay out. He also won't have any lost income so he wouldn't actually be able to sue.

Breach of contract is what peeps are saying for Wayne allegedly playing a part in recruitment matters and organising training camps for Souths in 2019. All allegedly at this stage mind you so don't take it as fact as may be untrue.

Thoughts on the end of WB's career at the Broncos?
Thoughts on Seibold getting a 5 year contract based on his coaching career so far?

Who is excited?

I'm upset it ended so badly, but genuinely excited for a fresh change.

It's hard for me to admit but I have lost a lot of respect for Bennett and perhaps I have been a bit blind to his actions during this. For someone I respect so highly I expect more from him and frankly it really disappoints me how poorly he has acted and conducted himself during this whole thing. I still respect his achievements on the field and in general what he has done for the club overall, but I have to question if his ego got in the way of his decision making during this whole saga. It only proves one thing for me, putting people on pedestals is rarely deserved. He isn't alone though because in the end I think this whole saga could have been handled better by pretty much everyone involved and no one comes off looking good here IMO.

The only people I feel sorry for are the fans of the Broncos and Souths, being dragged through this whole thing has been a shit fight and it's hard to say what lies ahead for 2019, I really really don't know. We will have a new coach for 2019 and beyond, but there is a hell of a lot of work at all levels of the club to move on.

If the revelations about his dealings with Souths are true and the Broncos are able to put forward the evidence establishing it, he will not be paid out. There would be valid grounds for his dismissal. Then it will be a matter for Wayne whether he wants a very public hearing where once again, IF, the allegations are true, his double dealing will come out, his version about not being involved with South Sydney will be confirmed as lies. It would also appear likely that Souths would not be keen on him adopting this approach because it would be their players and staff that would be called as witnesses, causing a substantial disruption to their club.

They had better have Oates, TPJ and Lodge wrapped up. The club is so incompetent lately some staffer has probably forged their signatures.

If even half of this is true, Bennett has acted like a dog and I have lost close to all respect for him. I need to update my signature.

This season is going to a mess isn't it? So much drama already. Seibold seems a bit broken.
