Wayne Bennett related player movement discussion

Without question? Bullshit. He hasnt moved him from the spine all year for the knights despite his pathetic, park footy standard form. What makes you think it would be different here?

I know you're a bit dull, I've already explained why he wasn't dropped this year, so I'll do it again. He wasn't dropped from the Knights this season because himself and Wayne weren't getting paid, it was a strategical "Don't give 100%" from Boyd, and I have no doubt Wayne knew it and was fine with it, until they got paid, at which point Boyd stepped up his game immensely, he's been one of the better fullbacks in the competition since that point in time that Tinkler actually paid him & Bennett.

And just a further point on the matter, who would Wayne have replaced Darius with at fullback exactly? Gidley?.. Mata'utia?.. They've got no depth at the position even if they wanted to drop Darius.

If WB is giving Boyd a fair crack at Fb or fe what kind of fair crack does Barba get?

Probably a very limited one unfortunately for us, I can only assume that he'll start the pre-season with Boyd & Milford at the top of the pecking order in terms of the spine positions, it would take something magical for Barba to unseat one of them, if you ask me. (For the record: I'm not for Darius being in the spine, in fact, I don't like it at all, I'd have him on the wing and have Barba & Milford in the spine)

what a cop-out. He was paid his Knights salary ... what he wasn't paid was the part of his contract that was non-guaranteed TPA. and those really have nothing to do with the club. they couldn't honour them even if they wanted to. and that really is the problem with accepting a contract that has a large portion of TPAs in it.

Re: Darius Boyd return?

Amazing that Boyd can manage to get a third party deal.

If it is a guaranteed TPA it is must definitely up to the club to see it paid. It is part of his contract and paid of his pay. If they are going to guarantee a TPA they need to make sure he receives that money one way or another.

I find it absurd that people dont think 'not being paid' its a motivator for putting in less than 100%

Can you honestly tell me if your boss called you up and said I'm reducing your annual pay by 30% for no reason, you would still put in?

but the reports were that it was NOT a guaranteed TPA ... therefore the club is NOT able to pay him. he was paid his Knights salary (at least what they were obligated to pay him)

Everyone would act different in this situation imo. You can't really compare a footballer losing a third party deal to an average Joe working in an office.

I wasn't aware of that, I was going by your post where you said it was a guaranteed TPA. I realise now that you meant to write non-guaranteed TPA

sorry typo ... i'll fix that to avoid confusion

Gidley! Why not gidley? Its clearly his best position, they play better when he is there, and they have Mullen and Roberts to play in the halves. If he wanted to drop boyd, he could have EASILY and covered him nicely

Although i never rated him in the rep scene ... Gidley has always been a very good club player for the Knights ... he should have stayed at fullback... the Knights didn't need a fullback, but Bennett brought him over anyway, and then moved their best player and captain out of his best position.

Kidley had been average since 2009 or so when he was exposed as a hack at Origin level.

Boyd turned out to be a dud signing as well but Bennett had the right idea in 2011. Unfortunately, Kurt couldn't stay on the field long enough to complete his transformation into a hooker.

I'd take a 75% Boyd over a 100% Gidley any day, but it's personal preference tbh.. Maybe Wayne did play favourites with Darius at the Knights, but they had nowhere near the depth at Fullback that the Broncos do, I think it'll be a different story here in Brisbane next year.

Id probably take a 75% boyd over a 100% gidley too, but what the knights got was about a 30% boyd.

Why would Bennett bother to recruit Boyd if he doesn't intend on playing him at fullback? The suggestions in the media that he will play in the 6 are terrifying tbh.

Didn't you say a few posts up that fullback is Gidley's best position and they play better when he plays there? Why would you take Boyd over him then o_O

Regardless, I'll agree to that %, Boyd was rubbish in the first half of this season, but I think there was some major outside factors, not just form.

Bennett would have cleaned Gidley out two years ago if his brother wasn't the CEO of the club
