Wayne Bennett related player movement discussion

Re: Lets discuss Barba

I was going by what Walters apparently said on the radio this morning, about Boyd likely ending up in Brisbane and that he can play 5/8

He said he can also play five eight, didn't say he will be.

Re: Lets discuss Barba

the thing that has me concerned is that he even mentioned 5/8 in regards to Boyd
This isn't the thread for it but I must admit alarm bells were ringing when Walters said Boyd can play in the halves.

WE DON'T ****ING NEED BOYD

No we don't... And Wayne should know that.

With all the young halves we have in stock.. Along with Barba... I'd be fairly disappointed if Wayne thought Boyd was our best option.

'Boyd to the Bulldogs' makes for a nice headline in the papers

Ugh.. he'd be worse than Hoffman was there.

Barba has been playing his best footy at 5/8 this year and looks happy, to bugger him off altogether would be a massive shame.

Ugh.. he'd be worse than Hoffman was there.

Let's not get too silly.. I think he'd still be an upgrade on Hoffman at Five-Eighth, but regardless, Barba is doing a good job and has plenty of upside, I'd rather keep him.

Next year I think if we lose Hoffman, Boyd should play on the wing. Reed is not a winger.

there have been some rumours circulating online today that Russell Packer will sign with the us, if the NRL clear him to return. i think he gets out of jail at the end of the year. it could also depend on whether he gets deported or not due to the crime he committed.

that could mean that either McGuire or Hannant won't be here next year.

Packer better come bloody cheap if we sign him, but even then i'd rather us sign Hannant and McGuire

I'd rather we just didn't tbh, he'd be a perfect fit for us, but I just don't want him.

Along with about 20,000 Broncos members.

We may sign packer, I hope we don't. But if we did it would be for very little money and their is no way in hell it would be at the expense of McGuire or hannant, that's just ridiculous

i dont even want someone like packer living in my neighbourhood let alone playing for my football club. ffs if the club is serious we have lost the plot

Packer had been kicked out of a bar in Martin Place when he got into a fight with a man outside.
The court heard Packer’s punch dropped the man to the ground.
Judge Hoy said Packer then knelt on the ground, gave the man an upper cut and then stomped on his head.
Packer’s defence team had submitted in his appeal that he was punched first.
However, Judge Hoy said the retaliation was excessive.
“This was an attack ... that was ongoing,’’ he said.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Newcastle Knights Darius Boyd Admitted To Mental Health Clinic To Seek Depression | Triple M NRL

Darius Boyd has completed his rehabilitation program for depression in a Sydney mental health facility.

Boyd won’t return to playing this season as he continues to focus on his recovery.

Boyd hasn’t made a decision on his playing future.

Boyd wishes to thank the Club, his teammates and the fans for their support at this time.

Earlier, Triple M's Gorden Tallis revealed the 27-year-old was a big chance of following coach Wayne Bennett to the Brisbane Broncos next year.

“Darius Boyd will come home to Brisbane so that means that the halfback is Ben Hunt, the five eighth would be [Anthony] Milford and Darius [Boyd] will be number one because he is a handy fullback,” said Tallis, on Triple M’s Rush Hour.

For one, I highly doubt Tallis has any idea what Bennett plans to do with our spine next year, because they virtually hate each other. So I would take his comments on the matter with an enormous grain of salt.

I'm normally not too fussed about players with spotty histories. I was more than fine with us signing Dugan (before the brain fart) but Packer is an absolute no. This is a person who has no respect for... well, anyone really.

And even if you somehow wipe out the factor he's nothing but a violent thug, this is a guy who disrespected Suncorp by pissing on it. Home grounds should be fortresses and I'd hope the club still has enough of it's pride left to never, ever sign a guy who pissed on their home field.

The club will try to sign anyone Bennett wants ... subject to cap room.
