Why would Bennett bother to recruit Boyd if he doesn't intend on playing him at fullback? The suggestions in the media that he will play in the 6 are terrifying tbh.

There is no way if boyd is coming here it is to play 6. If he comes it will be for fullback. Bennett tried him at five eight and it didn't work. The media are being dicks and we are lapping it up

Regardless, I'll agree to that %, Boyd was rubbish in the first half of this season, but I think there was some major outside factors, not just form.

regardless of any other factors, Bennett is the coach of the team, it is his job to put the best team on the park every week. if Boyd isn't in that team, then it is Bennett's job to make the hard decision to drop him (or maybe move him to the wing, if that was the best option)

Bennett would have cleaned Gidley out two years ago if his brother wasn't the CEO of the club

that sort of stuff has never mattered to Bennett in the past, so why would it now. besides he could have just dropped him and there would have been nothing Matt could have done

Purely because boyd hasnt been playing 100% since he went to the knights imo. We havent ever seen him live up to the standards he set at saints. For that reason the knights have always been better with Gidley at fullback. Gidley in the halves is a failure too and I think it dramatically weakens their team when he is there. I wouldve tried to get Boyd into the backline (apart from fullback) to allow gidley to play fullback and mullen and roberts to be the halves.

But to clarify, if both were 100% and i HAD to pick one to play at the broncos, i would take boyd and chuck him on the wing. I couldnt find a spot for gidley in the current team.

And as Foordy said, the outside factors are irrelevant. Its bennetts job to field the best team he can for the knights, and that didnt involve boyd, especially the first half of this season. It helped Boyds case that Mullen was out injured for a while tho

So, we're all of the agreement that Boyd is a great player, who's just given piss all effort at the Knights.

Alright, I'm fine with that, this will be my last post regarding the matter, I think the reason (Apart from the reasons I already mentioned) that Wayne didn't drop Darius during his time at the Knights was because he knows how good Darius can be (See: Dragons, Broncos & Maroons performances)

Let's just pray to the football gods that if Darius ends up in Brisbane next season he brings a better attitude and a willingness to play where it best suits the team, not where it best suits Darius.

I doubt that info is common knowledge mate. People aren't to know that Boyd's Grandmother is ill or whatever the problem is. All we see is a player not performing and then we hear he is not getting paid what he is meant to be earning.

Gidley! Why not gidley? Its clearly his best position, they play better when he is there, and they have Mullen and Roberts to play in the halves. If he wanted to drop boyd, he could have EASILY and covered him nicely

He was paid his Knights salary ... what he wasn't paid was the part of his contract that was non-guaranteed TPA. and those really have nothing to do with the club. they couldn't honour them even if they wanted to. and that really is the problem with accepting a contract that has a large portion of TPAs in it.

Weren't they TPAs that were being paid by the owner of the club though? Which might have something to do with the club.

I found out through the media so it should be common knowledge. I believe she had a fall at a shopping centre and he had to arrange accomodation where she could be looked after. She was his rock growing up and it would have affected him greatly this year

Listening to Kevin Walters on the radio this morning. He said Darius Boyd can play in the halves. Also if you read between the lines he leaves little doubt to the fact that Darius will be at the Broncos next year.

No, i listed my reasons before. Many are saying bennett wouldnt be stupid enough to bring him here to play in a spine position considering who we have on the roster. But if he comes, it wont be on the wing thats for sure
