NEWS Wests Tigers set to pounce on Broncos star Anthony Milford: Report

I am a lot less concerned about losing Milford than I would've been a year or two ago. I mean if you want a poster child for how underwhelming this team has been over the past few years, Milf is probably second only to Boyd. He's never fit, he can't deal with the pressure his price tag comes with, he never applies his greatest strengths in the game anymore and generally speaking just doesn't seem like a deeply competitive or motivated young man.

This just comes across to me the same as Hunt's departure did; another potential superstar who was sat on his ass hard in a Grand Final and making up for that is damn sure a lot harder than a fresh start. We honestly need to root out any and all sources of "sooky lala" attitudes within this club, because it is strangling us. If Milf can get a quality offer from someone like the Tigpies despite how disappointing he has proven to be, then I say good luck to him. He would be stupid to turn it down and we would be stupid to try and match it.

If I’m reading this right (and I may not be) I can’t agree, Milf was the best player in the ‘15 GF, should have been CC medalist.

And yet he wasn't. History is what it is, Sproj. No amount of wishful thinking will change it, and Milf not living up to his potential is frankly on him.

He hasn’t lived up to potential absolutely. But you cannot day he was found out in a GF, he wasn’t. He was absolutely brilliant on that game, if not for his absolutely horrid halves partner, he would have won it for the Broncs.

I’m all for bagging out his lack of professionalism, etc but he cannot be criticised unfairly for an excellent GF performance.

Yup, Milf has been getting picked on that 2015 ever since, and on many an occasion, he hasn't deserved to. He's mostly done SFA ever since.

The way he's been going these past 4 years, I can really see him sitting back in 20 years time and thinking to himself, "christ those were some wasted years and talent, if only I had knuckled down".

Can anyone confirm the maccas cards have been taken off the players? I mean surely that's one fuckup the club has fixed from last year? Surely?

We look at his performance across his entire contract,
2015 should've been Clive churchill
2016 first half of the year was verging on dally m form
2018 broncos player of the year

Take into account age - 25

Consider our depth at the position - zero alternate five eights except probably Bird on $900k. We only have halfbacks coming through the juniors

and what's available amongst potential outside signings - probably Cody Walker on $800k, Wighton on $900k, and then just untried juniors. Mostly it will be guys from Sydney who we will have to entice with extra cash and runs a risk

I was kinda just having a joke at the expense of our recruitment team there, so sorry if I hit a nerve. But I take it you're satisfied with the return on his contract to date, and would be happy to extend at the same price, then?

I'm certain that's one of the first things Seibold would have done. Because it's the first thing anyone with a working brain or hasn't phoned it in would do.

600k at a good club.

The bad clubs have to pay overs sometimes and hope for the best.

He’s better than Josh Reynolds.. Who they signed for around 900k or something

We are now one of those bad clubs.

It is partially the coaching he’s had too though. He’s the type of guy that needs a specialists halves coach to work with him all pre season then weekly sessions during the season.

Can’t believe some of the Milf bashing in here. Mostly sweet F A since 2015? if you think we were crap with him practically running attack by himself, imagine how we would have gone without him .

He's got one of the greatest of all time running water out to him every weekend for 80 minutes....

But he wasn’t found out like you suggested either. Honestly, an otherwise good post lost all credibility through one line of bullshit.

I thought the criteria you raised were applicable and thought I would attempt to answer them for some context.

In my first post I mentioned that I think his value has dropped (so clearly I don't think he gets re-signed on a similar deal) and I suspect we could get him for 800 over 3-4 years, but really I think the broncos will be happy for him to test his value out on the market and see where it lands. I can't see him dropping any lower than $750 otherwise he could probably end up heading to super league where he would absolutely kill it.

We have added incentives that his family is here and Brisbane represents a lower cost of living. I really don't see him getting offered $1m by anyone serious in Sydney or Melbourne so he could choose to chase the cash at a shit club and fade off into oblivion or he could take a discount allowing us to put a spine around him with a dominant forward pack and promising backs.

Alternatively if he absolutely brains it to start the year his price could push up again. He's also got the player option up his sleeve, which basically gives him 24 months to secure his next long term deal.

I’m sure he’s well hydrated. Genuine question, how often is Alfie down at training?
