NEWS Wests Tigers set to pounce on Broncos star Anthony Milford: Report

Give him this year under a new captain to prove his worth. He comes under criticism for being lazy and unmotivated but it would be hard to give a shit when your captain obviously doesn't.

Same reason Oates gets a bit of a grace period too, looking for more from him next season. We all know what they're both capable of.

We can’t even sign Croft, I would put dreams of DCE and Ponga away.

But think about how attractive this club will actually be to players like DCE, Ponga and Munster once we have gotten rid of players like Boyd, Bird, Milford, McCullough..

Players such as Staggs, Haas, Pangai, Oates, Fifita, Flegler, Carrigan will attract the right talent to play alongside them.

We seriously just need someone to control this team.

Losing Boyd, Bird, Milf and Macca doesn't make us less of a shit show. Players don't want to play under the coach, they won't want to play for a team who cops shit for playing the pokies. We are one of the most unappealing teams to play for in the game because of the pressure of playing for the Brisbane Broncos.

Wonder what we will do if we get an offer to take him off our hands?

Cult you really need to chill with the negative vibes, we get you don't like Seibold. Once again if players do not want to play under him, why have all of the off contract players signed to remain here despite better offers elsewhere?

I think it depends on timing and the club's appetite for Bird to play 6 outside Croft or Dearden.

Personally I want to retain Milf on a reduced contract with a competent halfback inside him.

He’s been our best player in two of the four years since

You are probably right mate, but what about those 2 years when he wasn't. On his salary, he needs to be our 'go-to guy' pretty much every game - ala JT, Locky, Cronk etc.

Nah.

I don't mean nobody wants to, but from the outside looking in it looks like he has no clue at all and so far he's only brought in a guy who failed a mormon mission, a NSW Cup player, a barista and a guy that had a dumb clause in his contract to return. It's obvious that all of the Storm, Manly and Rabbitohs players he's been involved with before don't want a bar of him. Also you only responded to one of the reasons we will find it difficult to bring good players to the club.

Give me a reason to be positive about the club and I'll be positive about it. Haven't had any positives since Haas was signed to a long deal.

Okay, I will respond to the rest. With due respect, I don't think the playing pokies thing holds any weight at all as a reason why players would not want to play here. I think everyone recognises it for what it was. Other clubs have had major doping breaches, salary cap breaches, Mad Monday escapades all of which far outweigh pokiegate and it has not impacted their ability to recruit.

You don't think that there is pressure playing for Melbourne, Roosters, South Sydney or St George both from within and without those clubs? If that is a reason why a player would not choose to come here, guess what, we do not need them or want them.

Pretty much. Any player that wilfully chooses some second stringer club for a pay day over ours with the facilities and advantages we have were never overly serious about playing for us in the first place and aren't worth worrying about.

I can't believe the shallow analysis of Milford's form here.

I'll make one point - the performance of any member of the spine is dependent on all others. Why? Because the defence TARGETS playmakers.

For many games this year, Milford was the only true playmaker on the field. Boyd - nup. McCullough - nup. Turpin - not a halfback. So oppositions knew that Milford would be the kicker or the go-to man on the last two tackles.

This is too much responsibility for one player - kicker, playmaker and expected to make three line breaks in a game. It's not going to happen.

Return Milford to No. 6. Have a spin of quality (good fullback, Deardon and Turpin) - and watch Milford's form return.

Lol talk about shallow analysis. Milf was often outplayed by Nikorima. Nikorima has the one thing that Milf is lacking. That is pride and passion in his own performance. Milf has player about a season and a half of good footy since we signed him. He is the very definition of inconsistent.

EDIT: Wrong thread.

But when we do lose those players... Surely we'll only be left with the guns that were born with winning personalities.

Haas, Staggs, Fifita etc are born winners.

Makes a lot of sense, unfortunately we have the worst administration in the game and rather than looking at it from this perspective they are most likely working over time on a way to extend Macca and Boyd out even further.

Point of trivia: Haas' last three games include the Broncos biggest loss of all time and the first time Australia has been beaten by a second tier international team.
