NEWS Wests Tigers set to pounce on Broncos star Anthony Milford: Report

Good cheap signings or average, basically worthless signings who had no other options?
Mate I will give your argument re the coaches' ability to sign players some credit when you can prove that he has the salary cap space available to sign big name players but no one will sign. The truth is the club has been constrained by a salary cap crunch that is not the responsibility of Seibold. In that context, the players that have been signed represent value.

Why hate it. We paid him 700k a season on like 1 game of first grade. We took the punt and it paid off. Its not like he is earning 150k for the next 4 years. It was a gamble that we look like winning finally. 700k is pretty good for a top end prop.
700k would be a fair price. But it's been reported far and wide he's getting 500k. Where did you get 700 from? But to add to that I don't believe anything the club says anymore, Lockyer just confirmed that last week. Bunch of charlatans.

He didn't really have much room to wiggle with the begin with though. We would have lynched him had he lost Oates, TPJ, Turpin & Lodge who were all due for upgraded deals this year. (plus a few more youngsters he re-signed long term)I'm willing to give him another year only due to the fact that his hands have been tied with the salary cap in one sense but should start to clear up next year.
We can come back to this conversation in a year then. If he is still unable to bring anyone worthwhile to the club then we can consider him a failure or will excuses still be made for him?

I wouldn't upgrade Haas' contract. I'd just give him whatever is left over in the cap at the end of each salaried year :D

I'd like to see you respond to the rest of his post, like you just asked someone else to do.

Seibold claimed we were over the cap when he got here in December 2018, he then signed Kennar and it was ticked off by the NRL. We can't have been over the cap when he got here. So far all we have is proof that nobody wants to come play here unless they have no other option. I could say the same about your argument, I'll start taking it seriously the moment he signs anyone worthwhile. And I'll start giving him credit for his coaching ability the moment it looks like the Broncos have a clue on the field. His excuses are already getting old. Players don't sign for clubs that are a shit show for anything other than overs.

He's been lucky that a few players have dropped off in his time here, so their options were limited. Oates wasn't being offered as much as he wanted by other clubs, Ofa signed on overs, TPJ is a risk, Lodge isn't worth the publicity. Staggs is on the up so it was a good re-signing. I daresay Ofa on 500k is part of the reason we're in trouble with the salary cap next year. Maybe I am just pissed because the old coach we threw to the curb could lure players on unders and now we are a circus in the offices, with media adding pressure to our players every day. You'd have to think players would be weary to sign with us.

Which players did he lure on unders in his last stint? Jack Bird? Darius Boyd?

The talk about Milford needing a halves partner. This year he didn't have a fullback, halves partner or a hooker lol.

Like look at our spine... The only player who MIGHT have been able to carry that fucking shit show is Cooper Cronk. We had fucking nothing lol.

Boyd was by far the worst fullback in the comp. By literal miles. Half the Qcup and nswcup fullbacks were better. Then Turpin although he tried, was the worst 7 in the comp by a long way, and Macca, in terms of attack, was also probably the worst hooker. So honestly how could Milford carry that lol. No one could

No doubt having a stronger spine would help Milf tremendously. Completely agree with that. Unfortunately that could never excuse his complete lack of urgency in his play or just general lack of effort. These things seem to be ingrained in Milfs approach to his footy and we have had a reasonable sample size to confirm it.

As I have said before, he could be the best player in the game he seems determined to never actually fulfil his potential.

Rhys Kennedy, Richie Kennar, Jesse Arthurs, Segeyaro were all good cheap signings that have not caused issues with the cap. Kahu they tried to offload but were required to take back becuase of a contract signed before he arrived.

How is it obvious former players don't want a bar of him? Arthurs Kennar and Kennedy all came here after being coached by him. I believe he attended Damien Cook's wedding and gets on with lots of the players at the Rabbitohs. There are always a portion of players that won't like a coach. That's true for every coach.
And for Toms sake (When are we going to bring back the block feature @Nashy)

Those players all had no other option. Rabbitohs players were hyping Furner as their attacking coach throughout the year. Burgess saying how much they've changed since he left. He was a guest at Cook's wedding in 2018 but he pissed off a lot of the Rabbitohs players with his comments this year. They were also pissed about him leaving. Even with such a tight friendship he couldn't sign Cook, despite Cook admitting they had spoken about it in the off season he signed (Surely he knew about our cap at this point?)

"I had a really good relationship with Seibs while he was here and we did some really good things. When you move footy teams as well you lose connection with a lot of the guys you were mates with as well. You don't have time to get back to that sometimes." They aren't even friends anymore by the way. His mates were quick to jump on the Bennett wagon when it was Seibold VS Bennett throughout the year. As for the Manly and Storm connections, how is it benefiting us? We get a few discarded players who don't have any options at other clubs? Yay

Our 2019 player of the year? His prop partner? Our future full time hooker. Our future halfback. Our current goal kicking NZ representing winger. That's Haas, Lodge, Turpin, Dearden and Isaako by the way.

Adam Blair was a big reason we were successful in 2015 as well.

Milford isn’t the problem. He’s amazingly talented. He just needs a better spine around him and a more simplified and defined role.

if Milf played 5/8th for storm, roosters, rabbits or Canberra he’d be as good or better than any if their 5/8ths.

we need an experienced dame controlling halfback and an X factor fullback.

If he played for the Storm, Roosters or Rabbits he wouldn’t be on a million a year, taking away cash to pay for that halves partner he so desperately needs.

So he was paid overs whilst Bennett was the coach?

I do believe he is slightly overpaid and would be going into his never contract with the intention of dropping his price tag to about 800k. Which I don’t think is far off what Wighton, Munster, or Walker is getting.

Yeah but I didn’t say every player stayed or signed for unders when Bennett was here. Bird was also signed on overs under Bennett. But we used to get many players for unders. Now we have to re-sign everyone on overs or sign people without any other options

Why do you want to block me so bad? Everybody else finds me simply delightful.

Once again, I respectfully disagree with your `opinion' that we have to pay everyone overs to stay.

Here's my shitty two cents worth. Milford is okay, nothing special. Top dollar for me is 400k, honestly. Yes he has potential but he hasn't delivered. When we had Langer, Walters, Lockyer, and some lesser lights who could match those three on the odd occasion we were in virtually every match. I've witnessed matches over the last few years where we simply were never in the game. Milford doesn't seem to possess the metal. That's what you pay a million dollars to obtain. Bird has more metal and desire in his finger than Millionford has in his entirety. I would not even start Millionford next year, he'd be in ISC until he was earning man of the match every damn game. I'd encourage him to look elsewhere for 2020 just so he's aware how much he's really worth. It just might make the bludger wake up.

No, I haven't forgotten his best efforts but for a million bucks I expect them every 1 to 2 weeks not twice a fucking year.
