What is happening at the Broncos?

Can I just say I agree completely with almost everything you post. If we had a halfback I think Milford could be really good but as we don't, IMO he has been average at best. Last night Bird and Boyd made him look good but did he have any try or linebreak assists at all? How many has he had this season? But as someone pointed out, an argument could be made that it isn't his fault the club doesn't have a No.7 to help him a little with playmking and game management duties.

Bird? Boyd I can cop, beautiful pass to Oates for that try and couple more with a different bounce and Oates has a hat trick.....but Bird? I think he'd made 3 runs all game when he was hooked.....

Bird and Boyd made Milford look good?..............I must of missed those bits. Milf with no try assists?..........I must of dreamt the one to Glenn. Seems I need to pay more attention.

Hate to say it again but you're kidding right ?? Boyd and bird made him look good ??? Wow

As Porthoz pointed out, and what I would have thought obvious, I meant in comparison to how bad Boyd and Bird were. That's right. Milford did have a try assist. I couldn't recall which is why I asked it, rather than stated it.

Our pack is the best in the comp, and most of it is comprised of jrs with little to no experience. Look at the way Souths are rolling the Knights pack right now, our boys dominated them last week.

It's not all doom and gloom.

That's pretty close to my position. I have stated a few times I don't think Boyd has been that bad but I do think he offers very little in attack and he shouldn't be called upon to do any kicking unless for a some kind of mess up. Unfortunately as Bord is the halfback, we could call that a mess-up in and of itself.

I'd prefer Dragons and Melbourne packs. If we are being completely honest. Before the season started I wouldn't have definitely preferred Cowboys pack but not now.

Our pack isn’t the problem. Look how many chances we had in the dogs line last night. We get into the attacking 20 easily. It’s what happens from there that is terrible and poor!

I can predict what we are going to do every set. Couple of early tackles with a forward running. 3rd or 4th tackle try and run what seems our only set move with Milford out the back to Boyd. If all else fails then kick on 5 and hope like hell its a decent kick.

If I can predict what we are going to do then sure as hell the other teams know what’s going on.

Well from my perspective, we have tried Plan A - Kodi as halfback and that now appears to have been shelved given that he has been back from `injury' for two games and not placed back into the halfback position. We have tried Plan B with Bird in the halves and he is simply not doing enough and his confidence looks absolutely shot. Arguably the last thing he needs is to remain in a key position whilst he is (a) carrying injury, (b) carrying condition and (c) down on confidence.

That must mean we have to go to Plan C doesn't it? You know, give an actual halfback a run in the position and see if they can handle it, someone like, I don't know??? Dargan - if not, why in the hell did we buy him? He surely can't suck as much as what we have seen from the other two to date this season.

If we retain the right players we'll have, by far, the best pack in the comp within two years. I think we're right up there now, let alone when blokes like Haas, Fifita, Su'a, Carrigan have NRL games under their belts, and TPJ improves (which he will).

We need a halfback, but it's not like Wayne is chucking a Hook here and actually believes that he has the right option at the moment: his hooking of Bird against the dogs and leaving Niko out a few games back is proof that he doesn't believe that they're the answer. Taylor basically lied to his face and the club Inglis style about coming here next season which rooted our plans, but he'll figure something out. I hope the answer is in house, like Paix or Dargan, but if they don't start looking ready for next season and Niko continues to stink it up, then we'll go to the market.
His hooking of Bird ? So, WB lied ?
Taylor lied ? Evidence?

I think WB lied. Trying to deflect negative attention away from Bird but I don't have any evidence for it. If Bird is still playing in the halves next week, I guess that would count as circumstantial evidence he didn't lie but let's wait and see. If it were a big game and he still picked Bird in the halves it would be much more concrete evidence but even with Bird in the halves, surely we will still easily account for the wooden spoon specials.

Bird was hooked. Plain as day.
Watching the replay now... he was limping.

The other thing I have noticed in the replay is defensively and in the effort areas bird is doing well. He was the only one chasing back on 2/3 of the tries and was the first chaser on most kicks (along with TPJ). He just doesn't get involved enough in attack at the moment. Reminds me a lot of Roberts 2 years ago.

Call me crazy but I think he will have a break out game soon but it will take a long time for consistent performances week after week.
One thing with Bennett is he doesn't give a shit if a million dollar player looks like a reserve grader when he starts at the broncos, or that the fans and media want him sacked. He wants that player to play a tiny role and build up in the small areas to fit in with the team before he does all the fancy stuff or becomes a lead man in the team.

Milford and Roberts are recent examples of this. Frustrating for us fans but will hopefully pay off

I’ve always thought it smart not to give my most dangerous outside back not enough quality ball for 2.5 years. Or make my million dollar support running livewire the job of an organising half and watch him flounder for a few seasons...

There is easing a guy into structures for a month or two and then there is refusing to adapt structures to the skills of your players...

If Roberts was playing like he still did at the titans we'd be leaking more points then he scored and he'd only play when he felt like it. Just like he did at the titans....
And Milford has been one of the form halves the last 3 games with more responsibility and with a great kicking game. There's more to being a half then running the ball. This isn't park footy "pass it to the best player and he'll run and score"...
We have had a lot of rep players and players look good at other clubs because they play to a standard at the broncos.

I ask you all this question?

Should we have resigned Benji for another year? Our attack would have been better and our organisation in attack probably would of improved!!!
