What Role Should Adam Blair Play In The Team?

As a big Blair critic at the start of the year, I must say he has been improving with time and has been very good of late. He is buying whatever WB is selling, and like all other players, is taking his game to the next level.

Credit where credit is due. I didn't think the change in coach would make that big a difference, but it did, more than the changes to the roster imo.
Benny and in some measure Kevvie, have made all the difference imo, even Kearney benefitted from it, going from the scapegoat to a great defensive coach in one season. But you only have to look at the improvement in Thaiday, Glenn, Macca. How Gillett has gone from a defensive worry to a inexpugnable rock, or Maranta from a total nuffie to a very solid winger.

It does make me wonder... how would Kennedy or Barba have played under Wayne? How would Blair have gone under Hook, etc...?

I was also a big critic of Blair earlier in the season, however, I was really impressed with him in the Dogs game. He looks to me like he's taking his game to another level as well. Almost everything he does now looks like he has thought it through, has a purpose rather than just barging hit ups for a few metres. He makes decisions, pass/offload or not, run this way or another. I think Bennett is transforming him into a first class forward. I hope he continues.

Along with Thaiday running and tackling hard, as well as passing, Parker's offloading ... our pack is starting to look very impressive. At this stage, Blair is exactly what we need up front.

Parcell looks like he has more potential than Granville. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up better than McCullough in the near future either.

I've been a big critic of Blair as well. But consistency is what worries me about him.

Every now and again we saw signs at the Tigpies that he might turn a corner only for him to turn back into his pillow self the following week.

Hopefully being at s professional club, with a coach like Bennett changes things. And we see more good performances (like the last couple of weeks) than bad from him.

Adam Blair says Broncos professionalism helped him find his best form

ADAM Blair says there is one major difference between the Broncos and his old club Wests Tigers — the level of professionalism.

Blair was a last-minute addition to Brisbane this season after leaving Wests Tigers on just three days’ notice.
He was bemused at the time and reticent to break a contract but the versatile forward has become a valued member of the table-topping Broncos who tackle the Tigers on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium.
It will be the first time Blair faces his old club who are struggling on and off field.
The Tigers’ coaching staff has changed dramatically since last year but their poor form has continued this season.

Blair said there was a noticeable difference in training intensity from the Tigers to the Broncos.
“We are all on the same page at training and everyone wants to be there,” Blair told The Courier-Mail.
“We are all excited and want to be there (at training) and that’s the biggest change I noticed.
“I think there’s a professionalism that this club has, the brand speaks for itself.
“It helps when you are winning though.
“I will stay away from the banter this week. This is an important game for both teams.
“They are not going as well as they want to be.
“They need to put some good performances in at the back end of the year and we need to keep our momentum.”

The Broncos are sailing towards their most successful regular season in club history and have even taken over a CityCat with a maroon and gold Broncos vessel unveiled by Mayor Graham Quirk.

Blair played his best game of the season against the Bulldogs.

The last Queensland team to adorn a CityCat was the Firebirds who won a premiership just weeks later.
Blair scored his first try of the season in Brisbane’s win over Canterbury.
He has improved tremendously since he was given a clip behind the ears from Broncos coaching staff for making just one run in their win over Cronulla in March.
He made 17 runs and 140m against the Bulldogs.
“You are going to have games like that,” Blair said about his Cronulla effort.
“Every game won’t be your best. You have to believe in what you can do though.
“Everyday you have to look in the mirror and ask ‘How much do I want it’?
“I know what I can do and since that day I haven’t looked back and I am enjoying myself a lot more.”
In a boost to the Broncos chances of winning seven straight on Sunday, the Tigers’ best player Robbie Farah is likely to be ruled out.
“It’ll be touch and go,” Farah admitted after struggling through training on Monday.

Like many others, I was completely against the Blair signing. But credit to him, he's become such a vital part of our pack. I never see us leak points through the middle anymore. It can't be a coincidence (I'm sure coaching has a part there obviously but still)

For so many seasons we have longed for an intimadator in defence and blair is that, unfortunately there is no stat to capture this. It's good though that he is getting some recognition now that he is also posting good run metres

Best thing about Blair's good performances is they've come after McGuire was ruled out for the season. It was a moment that I thought derailed our chances significantly but if he can keep up the form of last weekend then we're still a great chance.

Yes and no.

I actually think he's been on the up for a while now .... little contributions that have largely gone unnoticed.

The Bulldogs game was a culmination of all the good things he's been working on, and it couldn't have come at a better time !!

He lifted the moment they took McGuire off I thought. His first run after they did was pretty impressive.

Love the citycat.....

“In addition to the Firebirds and the Broncos, our CityCat fleet will also pay tribute to teams such as the Queensland Bulls, Queensland Reds, Brisbane Roar, Brisbane Lions, and the Brisbane International Tennis event as part of our Team Brisbane campaign.”

The QLD maroons?........the 2015 SOO record winning team ?????

Surely an oversight, unless more grandiose plans are being made.

Kent reckons Wests are paying half his salary.

I didn't know about that.

Yeah I heard him say that a week or two ago and didn't really pay any attention to it, but considering he said it again.. I guess it must be true, if that's the case we're only paying him roughly ~$250k this year, that's a bargain for what he offers.
