For the right price, I would like to see it happen

But what's this about 100k? Is that real or did one poster just say it and everyone is running with it?

Considering he turned down 300K at the Dragons I would be surprised if he tool 100, but of he did he would have to be regretting saying no to Dragons

From his own mouth too. He was on 360 (i think) at the end of the season and stated how much he's struggled with it. He thinks if he's thrown back in at 6, he'd be able to get back to his best.

The only person who thought he was worth more than 300k was Benji. Only the Dragons thought he was even worth 300k. Once that offer was taken off the table, no matter how stubborn he might be, he was going to be lucky to get anything more than base wage.

Which makes no sense really. Widdop plays like a 7 and he did just that in the 6. Benji is just past it, the only one who thinks he isn't is himself.

Completely agree, but he will surely regret not taking 300 when it was offered

Yeah, I agree. By the same token though, he didn't really get a chance to play "his way" at the Dragqueens. Him outside a good, controlling half like Cronk....I think we see a far better Benchi than we've seen over the past few seasons. At 100k, I aint complaining.

i'm sure he probably does, but that is life.

he turned down 300k at the start of the season when he wanted to let his footy do the talking. and it did. he was rubbish. and the dragons came to their senses.

We already have 2 five-eights in the team, why get another one? What we need is a 7!

I guess for the price, he's a good backup and hopefully his experience can be of great help to Milford especially, who is a better and younger version of Benji.

It's all hindsight though really, isn't it?

Right now people might be sayings shit signing, or not needed. If we didn't sign him and either Milford or hunt are out for next season and at that point you were told we had the option to sign Marshall for 100k most would be ready to drag Bennett out of Red Hill themselves.

Why exactly is it a "bad bad bad signing"

We get him for close to minimum wage and we have absolutely no depth in the halves.

He's not upto it anymore. Not an NRL player.

He's a premiership and WC winner. Mary ain't exactly the best coach in the world either, so who knows if he's truly past it - he's younger than Cronk and JT.

In the few times we do see that old Benji magic, it's been when he has been playing what's in front of him and playing off the cuff. Running the ball and creating chances with his creativity.

Dragons tried to get him to play structured, and I really think that's been a large contributing factor as to why he has been playing the way he has.

I do think he has some things to offer that we could use a bit of, like another decent kicking option, and he will be on peanuts.

I don't see much issue.

If he was getting the money he wanted, then I would be filthy.
