Where to From Here? Let's Plan for 2021...er...2025

So negative, all the teams you listed are doing better than Brisbane are.
Hynes, Momirovski (btw is at the Storm) both good young backs. Johnston is a try scoring machine and brings the ball back well and Welch is just the type of forward we need to compliment the others, low on errors, rolls the sleeves up, and is a good defender.

Brisbane need to stop thinking they need a team of superstars, we have the spark, a few X factors, we just need some solid consistent players around them.
We have the makings of a good spine, they are young, given opportunity and time they will improve. It's the players around them that need to pull their weight. Some of our current crop with so much potential and that can be good need to stop reading it and believing it, they need to go out and show it week after week.

And I took it that the coach going is a given.
TBF, every team is playing better football than the Broncos, even the Dogs.

If you havent already, watch the highlights of penrith vs canberra. Watch how hard kikau comes onto the ball for his try. I would love to see our forwards do that. It is frustrating to imagine what our forwards could do if they ran with the same intent.

You are spot on and what I've said a few times about our forwards, but it wasn't just how hard he ran, the play before the try, Cleary takes it to the right and turns a play underneath, then Cleary goes to the left side of the ruck and hits Kikau on the chest with a pass then let him run at the whole for the try. Two plays showed the things Brisbane are lacking, a Half dictating the direction of attack, forwards running hard and running good lines.

We need a completely new coach for next year. We need a coach with genuine experience and success in some way. I really believe we should get Toovey.
We could certainly do worse but doubt the board would go for it.

every single unemployed NRL coach looking at the soon-to-be vacant Broncos gig...

I can't believe the Warriors went for Brown instead of Toovey.

Likewise.

I think generally the NRL teams are far too conservative when it comes to strategy and coaching, recycling names because they have coached in the NRL before rather than trying something new.. I mean... what do the warriors possibly have to lose by trying a coach that might unleash their natural talent.. like say the Walker bros?

Or Anthony Seibold. Ask the Broncs, they'll more than likely answer your question.

If Seibold is still here in 2021 then we need to look forward to 2022..

Titans have beaten the cows so move ahead of us on the ladder.
I think they will stay ahead of us for the rest of the season.
They also look more prepared than us for next season while we are still a rabble. If we don’t get our act together soon we might as well write off 2021 and rename this thread let’s plan for 2022.

Assuming we dont make any "marquee" signings (c. smith is a pipe dream and will never happen and i dont see us getting grant) or have unexpected losses this off season, i would be interested to see how the following team would go:

1. Nicho hynes- from storm and has played FB and 6 in ISC (some footage on youtube looks promising). Not especially quick but has a very good passing game and general kicking game (which we have not had since k.hunt) including long kicking game.
2. Kennar
3. Herbie- herbie and kennar seem to be developing a decent/solid centre pairing. It is not game breaking but has been pretty safe and get the job done (like leutele and feki for the sharks in 2016).
4. Bird- i think the knee injury will affect his speed/explosiveness and he will not be as effective In fullback. I also dont think he will stay beyond next year so having him in a spine for one year will just hinder the development of combinations.
5. Coates- being next to bird will help his defensive game and learning.
6. Staggs- when he played in the halves, his defence was a lot better than it is in the centres. It gets him closer to the ball and away from the sideline. What we lose in the kicking game, hynes at FB makes up for/can cover.
7. Dearden- some specialist kicking training and this kid could be the half we have been waiting for.
8. TPJ
9. turpin
10. Hass
11. Glenn
12. Teo
13. Carrigan- if we wanted to change the way we played and put bird here i wouldnt be against it, i would shift carrigan to prop and maybe arthurs into centre.
14. Paix
15. Lodge
16. Flegler
17. Oates- covers outside backs for injury but would replace teo.

Coach: kevie. A large part of our issues is the player's attitude and lack of respect for the coach, jersey and its heritage. Kevie bleeds maroon, white and gold and is well respected by the league community. It would also go a long way in repairing this fractured club. Get in some good assistants and maybe hodgo for future transition arrangements.

I am not saying this would be a great team but it could be interesting. They are not all stars but good reliable players which you need a mix of.

1. Nicho hynes

I quite like the look of this guy, only seen him play twice for Melbourne now but he seems calm and composed. Seems like a pretty handy goalkicker as well, something Staggs doesn't fill me with confidence with just yet.
