If Widdop was asking only 300k the line for his services would be long enough to double that figure easily.
The reason it's so low is because nobody was interested when he was asking for 600-800k.

I’ll keep harping on but 300k for Widdop is an absolute steal. His experience is worth the money alone even if he doesn’t stay fit the whole season.

Why is Widdop so keen on coming back at such a bargain price considering he’s still contracted for another two years? I haven’t been following the story

That price, 1 year with a club or mutual option for a second year would be ideal. You wont find comparable spine players at that price. It would give us the option to look at 2022 market and go for players we are interested in/need but if we have no luck, we still have a quality experienced player in the spine.

It reminds me of the roosters signing morris, yes his glory/highlight days may be past him, but he is a rep player going at a bargain rate who is still going to do a solid job and provide that experience and composure on and off the field. Widdop is a good game manager/controller which would be great for dearden. I know dearden has kevie and alf but they have not played against the current day defensive structures which are much better than the defence that was around during their playing days, so any further support dearden can get will only benefit him and the broncos.

And bear with me on this, IMO widdop plays more like a 6/7 in attack, so even though he could line up defensively at fullback and provide that strong organising voice needed back there (and being a game controller could position himself well for kicks), he could play attack at 6 which would enable milf to roam and get back to following the ball and popping up at opportunities. Just an out of the box thought.

If 300k is a legit figure, Broncs need to make it happen even though we mostly all know they won’t.

What a horrible look. Sorry. Glad he is at the Dragons. Nobody wins at the pokies....ever.. except the owners of the license and the manufacturers.

A few Broncos like the pokies as well I read.

I'm about +$700 from the about 5 times I've had a spin

300k for whiddop, sign him up now. No questions asked. Send him business class on the next learjet if they have to. Youd be buying 300k worth of education for the rest of the squad, even if he only plays 30mins per game.

he wants to be closer to his kids
Are his kids currently in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, GC...?

Because that will influence the decision.

Probs end up at rorters on a cut price deal now that Flanagan has been cut.

Gives them a goal kicker (not sure who they have after Flanagan... probably TKO) and allows Walker to play a year in qcup

I don't think it will.

Being in England with practically no travel allowed, he can't see his family at all. Being in Australia, he'd see his kids every 2nd/3rd week at least even in Brisbane. He apparently spoke to the Cowboys but they don't have the money so I don't think he minds where he ends up.

At $300k he's got to be one of the most tempting prospects of 2021. I'm stunned he hasn't got clubs shifting the deck chairs madly to have a shot at him for that sort of investment.

If Brisbane somehow **** this up and don't fire a shot they should have Paul White dragged down Caxton Street and thrown into the river and hope he makes it out to sea.

Tie him to a giant wooden spoon and see if he floats.
