My opinion -
-Bennett will realise that Hunt is a season maybe two from being at the top of his game. Applying pressure to him before he is ready especially off the back of last season, as great as he was might be too much of a challenge early on.
-I don't think bennett will want to pick Thaiday or Parker, as good as they are there not 80 minute players and that is a big deal for him.
-Boyd coming off the back of a great season, not out in the lead with try's but was consistently at the back line organising/playmaking. A key to the success of the defence last season. Most likely a bronco for life and will be a future leader. He could be a real contender.

Agreed on Macca (also to see the meltdowns from some). I think he's odds-on to be honest. Top 3 candidate at least. Respectfully disagree on the Reed thing, but that's for another thread.

I agree but imo parker might gets it then when he retires hunt will hopefully be ready and he will get the captaincy, as i reckon Bennet see him as a future leader. But Boyd would also be a good leader.

Definitely wouldn't call his contribution major. He held his own, but I wouldn't class him as a major contributor. Blair, Boyd, Hunt, Milford, etc. All had a bigger impact on our team last year. A few times we did much better as soon as Kodi came on the field.

i would not even try to second guess what WB will do. It is equally likely he will do something out of left field like appoint Blair as captain.

The more I think about it, the more I'm sure it will be Boyd.

ive been thinking about WTF happens to boyd down the track..

these days 'slow and steady' isnt what you want from a fullback, when a bloke gets on you'd surely have to prepare to get him out to pasture, if the whole 'love child' rumours are true and Darius does stay beyond all our comforts then what? surely you wouldnt want him out the back, you'd have to shuffle and hide him in the centres (or, gulp..) halves. neither affects the captaincy decision immediately, but it worries me about what happens a few years down the track

i belived in Wayne when he brought him in this season though even if it deprived us of Milf at the back, so i can see the merit of leading the boys out each week

I don't disagree but could the same be said for Parcell? How many easy metres would we have got down field if he was the 9 at the same time?

yeah true, i hear ya. but dunno id say Nik and Parcell are on the same level defensively (although yeah id class few hookers as defensively better that Macca), but if Parcell was still in the squad i think the concerns about Macca getting the captaincy might be slightly allayed, non?

I actually didn't really rate Boyd last season, his positioning at the back for a seasoned fullback whenever I got the rare chance to see the Broncs live was not always great, in fact often it was downright terrible. I love what the guy has done to turn his life around off the field, absolute kudos for that but do I want him to lead the Broncos? The jury is out on that. If there were no other REALLY GOOD options than sure but we have Hunt/Parker/McCullough/Glenn as all legitimate options. One thing I feel quite confident on is that very few people would doubt Hunt as captain given his love for the club, so give it to Parker in his swansong year and watch Boyd and Hunt over the next 12 months and then decide on the longer time captain. My choice out of Boyd and Hunt is definitely Hunt.
