Who would come to play for us?

**** Karmichael.

He aint coming back ... from what I can tell he's finding his feet in fumble ball and it would seem an odd move for him to pull the pin while things are seemingly on the up for him at the Suns ..

this. hunt's improvement has really surprised me. I'm eating humble pie. he's doing well.

^ still a shame he's over there though because no matter how much he develops, he'll never EVER be as good an AFL player as he was and would've been as a League player .. but if he's happy to live out his days as a 'joe average' in that code rather than someone near the top of the pile in RL, then that's his problem ...

Now that the salary cap is going up, I can see him coming back to league at some point in the near future (once they paychecks are more even). Most likely won't be with us though.

Unfortunately though, if he'd stayed, I'd say he would've reached his peak in League a couple of years ago. If he came back say in 2015, it'd take him a good 6 months to get back into the swing of league, so you wouldn't see his best until 2016 and that'd still probably be below what he was like when he left.

Damn shame.

It is a damn shame Coxy ... for my money he would have been skipper now

J.Hunt has struggled to find a place at any NRL club, We don't need more stop gap solutions. We already have Kemp who while hasn't shown much/anything the last few years has at least shown more than J.Hunt in his career.

Never been given a chance to play fullback in first grade.

Well that's always the case with contracts.

Very true. Just watched some vids of Tomkins in ESl. The few examples of his defence were awful ... grabbing and missing, not hitting or going for the legs.

In fact the ESL defensive efforts are absolutely woeful which makes his admittedly good footwork and speed seem more than it is. So yes, Tomkins cutting it in NRL is by no means guaranteed.

I now have doubts about serious coin for him

You mean as bad as the Eels defence?

Ahh .... yes, from the 4 YouTube vids of Tomkins I watched. So much grasping at straws. Sorry Jeb.

However, clearly, there are 2 different levels within ESL - the rare "stars" like the Burgess bros and the 99.9% of the rest.

I tell you one thing this Sam Tomkins has done is lit a fire underneath our best forwards ... from last week's RLW: "We genuinely have some of the best players in the world in our team...apart from Cameron Smith you'd probably have an all-English pack (in a World XIII)"

Damn it's a pity that Dugan leaves his brains in his locker. I think he is much better than Tomkins

Graham and Burgess are both world class, haven't seen Ellis play since 2011 but before the injuries he was up there too...Sinfield is considered the best player in the world (in very small circles) and then I draw a blank.

I reckon the Poms haven't been too far off us when it comes to their forwards. It's usually their halves and backs that let them down.

I'm on the fence when it comes to Tomkins. I honestly think he'd make a positive impact in the NRL but don't think it'd be strong enough to justify a huge contract. The reason why the likes of Burgess, Graham and Ellis were such big coups was because of their reasonable asking price. By all reports, they only signed for around 250K which given they were all in the Top 5 in their respective positions at some point makes them a relative bargain. Albeit, in 2011 Sam spent more time on the sideline than on the field.

that's completely preposterous ... like rating a horse that's won 26 straight Group 2 races better than Black Caviar ...

It's not my opinion, believe me, but he is the reigning golden boot so he has to be doing something right.
