Who would come to play for us?

What would the Suns have to do with this? He went to the Giants....

On topic, **** it sign noone whatever.. My new agenda, Lock Hunt away long term now!
Yeah whoops, my bad, still the point remains.

Sign no one! That's noisetheorys idea. Not even original.

"We're happy with Hodges, Reed and Copley and therefore are not interested in chasing Folau".

Besides, I remember reading the Suns blaming the Broncos for an longstanding ankle injury that the Broncos didn't treat properly - wonder if that might have turned his opinion of us slightly.

I was of the opinion that Folau can play fullback. Should be able to cacth very well and since his stint in the AFL he should have added at least an average long range kicking game. The only problem would be his passing game. Whether or not he could do what Norman is doing ATM.

He'd be a powerful runner and basically unbeatable in the air, but yeah, you're right about the passing. He's never really been noted for his ball skills (who needs to when you leap 600ft in the air?). Not sure how he'd be positioning wise but I'm sure an off season could go some way to fix that.

i'd sign him simply to keep hoffman on the wing, he's been a revelation since being moved.

What I don't get is people thinking we're going to win a premiership by throwing big money at players. I mean look at NFL. How many teams do you see make big signings and they don't deliver the goods for example Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions etc. While I understand we need to sign good players, but I don't think 1 or two players are going to make difference.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

Reason I mention his name is because he has been linked to a few NRL teams of late so he must want to come back.

The dogs were linked to him but with all the money they have spent alarm bells would have to be ringing loudly if they even as much as said they would consider it.

The eels but since they signed Norman and Hopo and since he ditched them i cant see him going there.

That leaves us, Titans and possibly Panthers. I know which team id rather be playing for.

Like i said it would all depend on his passing game. If he could get that on track then he would be as good as Ingliss IMO.

I can see your point but IMO one player is all it can take.

South without Ingliss would be shit.
Storm without Cronk would be shit.
Cowboys without Thurston would be shit.

Just a few examples. I know those guys are the best of the best but im just trying to make a point

I see your point as well. But the Cowboys haven't won a premiership with Thurston. Cronk is a Storm junior, but I think if you take out Smith of the storm they wouldn't be as good . With Inglis I don't think it was just him that made the difference for the Rabbits. I think it's the fact the rabbits have always been talented bunch, but they haven't had the right coach until Maguire came along.

I don't think you understand, as several of your posts seem to indicate.

People are unhappy with Broncos recruitment in general. The fact that the Dragons, a team going worse than us and with even less to offer, can sign him without much fight, for a reasonable price (you don't think 550k is a reasonable deal for a young 5/8 with an ever increasing salary cap?), when Brisbane have said they are looking for a playmaker - this doesn't concern you at all? If not, should I just ask if you are happy with the squad and what your ambitions are for the next few seasons?

This sums up my point pretty much. Widdop has been widely tipped to stay with melbourne and if he wereto leave it would be for heaps, yet with seemingly no problems the dragons can sign him 550k (which by today's standards isnt all that much). FFS there is basically no one left to sign. so next year we will be looking at moving Hoffman off the wing (where his combo with Reed has been producing nearly all our points) so we will be back to the garbage of last year.

Our team next year:

1. Hoffman
2. Copley/Kahu - depending on a lot of things
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. ??? depends on whether JYY comes back and if he does if its on the wing - more likely some q cup 'superstar'
6. Prince
7. Wallace
8. McGuire
9. Macca
10. Thaiday
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. Hunt - Although I'm sure it will be announced that he is off somewhere soon
15. Hannant
16. Hala
17. Who the f*** cares

This is pretty dire in my opinion. All we do is let players go and then sign no one - unless they are a ex-bronco with one foot into retirement. How long is this 'rebuilding' year going to go for?

Roosters are favourites to sign him atm. SBW will leave at the end of this year the money left over will go to Folau!

I heard SBW will be playing for another year at least.

These days who really knows...

I heard he was headed back to rugby next year but tbh until he actually comes and says what he's doing I have no idea!

We went after Widdop, but not for $550k a year, he was just chasing the money, can't blame him. I also don't blame Broncos for not offering more, he's not worth $550. Carney is still available if we are still looking for a half. Door for Dugan hasn't closed trust me.

the mail on carney is he is rejecting bigger offers to re-sign for 650k with sharks before next round.

Widdop is indeed worth 550k, now anyway.. As long as other clubs are willing to pay big for halves Brisbane will continue to miss out on them unless they play the game.
