NEWS Why Haas Rejected 6m Offer

I’m not saying he will stay. He might, he might not. We’ve got 3 years to deal with it regardless of which way it goes. That’s plenty of time to replace him. As good as he is, he still is just a prop.

I think it makes sense that he turned down $6m. We’ve shown our hand if that’s the case and he knows in 2 years time that deal will likely still be there. He will get a million a year no matter who he signs with so why would he agree to stick at a club that’s at the bottom of the ladder for 10 years without first seeing if they’re actually improving.

He could see out his contract and outside of injuries, he could get a million a year from a team like the roosters who will win him premierships.
How valid are the claims that his court case with his manager could null and void any deals made by his manager?
If that's the case, then he could be free to negotiate elsewhere as soon as the case is resolved.
He upgraded his deal with the Broncos in 2018 (i think) the same year he started legal action against his former manager and went under the wing of SBW and Nasser.

There is too much murky water around Haas imo, my gut says he is gone.

Everything I’ve seen has said it won’t impact his broncos contract.

His dispute is in regards to the contract between himself and his management. Not the broncos contract. There’s no suggestion that the broncos contract was improper

If your real estate ***** you over with their % you can’t go to the seller 3 years later and give their house back.

My two cents worth, Rothfield is talking out of his ass.

I have said this before, but I will say it again. He is looking to invalidate his contract with Orr agency. That will have zero impact on his contract with the Broncos which is a completely separate agreement.

If he was seeking some relief in the court action that would involve the contract with the Broncos being invalidated, the Broncos would be a party to the action and would have a right to be heard to argue why the Bronco's contract should not be invalidated.

Broncos are not a party to the action, and it is simply nonsense that a Court would invalidate a contract between two parties without allowing both parties a right to be heard in the court proceeding.

It is typical journalistic bullshit to get clicks.

I know everyone has an irrational fear of SBW so let’s go through a list of all the big name players he’s helped the roosters poach…oh wait, there isn’t any.
Our team is on the up with alot of young guys coming through when Payne's contract is up we could be a top 4 team.
In 3 years time Keary and Tedesco will be on their last legs at 34-35 years old JWH will be gone.. obviously they will have other players come through but I don't see them being a force in 3 years Specially if Ikin can have a chat to his good mate Ben Walker and get his son over here to replace Reynolds

while i would hate to lose hass can you imagine the absolute mayhem from fans and other clubs it will cause it hass signs with the roosters especially if they already have a packed roster like they currently do.

Part of me would love to see it happen just for the drama which would probably lead to a change in how the salary cap works. it will be a interesting next couple years that's for sure

You know far more about this than me, but if Haas wins his case against Orr, and thus invalidates any deals made by Orr, wouldn't any in regards to his Broncos deal take place after the fact?

No mate, it might mean that any commission that Orr has ripped from him will have to be paid back but it would not invalidate the contract between the Broncos and Haas (in my view). As stated above, as a party that would be impacted by that occurring, the Broncos would have to be brought into the action and be given a right to be legally represented.

As long as there has been no conduct by the Broncos like engaging with the agent to do something under the table, or a misrepresentation by the Club that Haas relied upon. a dispute between an agent and a player will not invalidate a contract between the club and the player.

The only scenario where that might eventuate is where the agent is authorised to sign the contract on behalf of the player and there is no indication that this occurred with Haas.

Someone provided the useful analogy of a house sale and a real estate agent. The home owners signs an agreement with the agent to sell the house.

The agent markets the house, secures a buyer and a contract is signed between the home owner and the purchaser. The contract settles and the ownership changes on the title.

If thre home owner subsequently discovers the agent has done something dodgy, overcharged on commission, got a secret commission etc, as long as the purchaser is not involved, the home owner's legal recourse is against the agent under the agency agreement. They are not entitled to try and rescind the sale contract with the purchaser and regain ownership of the house.

Cheers for the info, that's a relief to be honest as my biggest concern was Haas current contract being thrown out based on the outcome of his case with Orr.

In saying all of the above, that is not to say that the Roosters, Politis and SBW individually or collectively are not in his hear trying to get him to jump ship despite the contract. That just seems to be the way the NRL rolls these days.

Yep, an NRL contract isn't worth the paper its written on.
However i imagine its a lot harder to get out of, if one of the parties doesn't want the contract to end.

No wonder Rothfield is such a successful journalist. He bold face lies about something he knows nothing about and every goes into meltdown.

I don’t think he will leave.
In 3 years time, we should be up around the top 4. Haas will be even more of a leader here, he will be more settled and hopefully would have created an even stronger bond with these young blokes & the club.
From the outside looking in, Haas is a very family oriented man. His family is up here, he, his mrs & young baby look to be pretty settled.
He claims to be a loyal man and I haven’t seen anything to disagree with this..
Who knows where his relationship with SBW will be in a few years and I’m not as sure his relationship with SBW is as close as everyone seems to assume. Sure they’re mates, but is he better mates with SBW then someone like Carrigan?
I have no doubt DD & Ikin will do everything possible to ensure he stays long-term. And I could actually see the dolphins being a bigger threat then the Roosters when he is able to talk to clubs.
I don’t believe his legal case with his current manager has been resolved, so I’m not the slightest bit concerned he hasn’t signed the so-called $6m tabled offer. On that, I’m sure Ikin came out at the beginning of the year (when this all blew up) saying nothing had yet been tabled to Haas due to his legal proceedings with his current manager. As we know, Badel is quite capable of twisting the truth.
I could be completely wrong with the above, but that’s just my thoughts on the situation.

No different to every other NRL journo.

But it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots.

1 - Roosters pilfer the best talent with the help of uncle Nick.
2 - SBW and Nasser are in Haas ear.
3 - Contract drama and recent discontent with his paycheck.
4 - Rejecting a 6 million dollar long term deal.
5 - A lot of his mates have left the Broncos in recent times.

Not sure if that's what you consider a meltdown, but you cant deny the clues all line up.

Obviously we are not privy to all the information and it could just be sensationalist journalism, but it might also be more than that.

Here's the video for anyone interested:

Now correct me if I'm wrong but he certainly didn't sound excited at all about staying at the club but was almost in tears talking about how much he loves Sonny Bill.

It is not necessarily the case he has rejected the offer, it appears two be more that he cannot sign a contract until the situation with Orr is sorted. Otherwise he would be at danger of owing him commission on the new contract. I think we should collectively take a deep breath and calm down.
