POST GAME World Club Series - Wolves vs Broncos

The thing I'm worried about is our left side defence.

It was awful.

Meh. We can justify or craft the view of the world from that trial any which way.

When we score the tries, it's obvious the skills and talent is there. But it's like Bennett tries to jam that into a fixed structure and it ruins their individual abilities.

I also really like Dimitriou showing emotion. Griffinbore, Kearney and Henjak (weirdo) had no personality. Maybe he's the man to fill the boots

I was thinking the same thing during the game. I really liked that D was getting pissed at the performance. Regardless of preseason excuses they are still wearing the Broncs jersey and it's not good enough.

I thought Fai was outstanding in his short stint. Herman, Joe, Arrow etc are all good, but Fai has the makings of something pretty special.... I know other clubs are circling.

Any chance of grabbing the bench spot?

Bad game aye?.. I was hoping to hear that 1 or 2 of our young forwards had played their hearts out. I sorta get that the senior players may be lacking in motivation for this game but TP and Offa have everything to play for here... Everyone is willing them to do a job. I hope they will take the opportunity with both hands sooner rather than later obviously. Anyway, good to hear TP had a bit of a crack. Anyone know where I can see a replay of the game?

Moving right along. Everything to play for and no excuses against the Sharks. Broncs will bring intensity.

From an English point if view it was a good night. Warrington out enthused Brisbane who I thought were two unadventurous and uncreative particularly in their own half. Darius Boyd looked injured/unfocused/disinterested and the halves just stood and passed - For most of the game in the Brisbane half the Warrington defence just picked off the runners. Brisbane PTB and active half pass was laboured and slow. Acting half was static. Hence two charge downs. I also think the noise levels and crowd got to the younger Brisbane players --its a very very loud ground.

To answer some of the points
The pitch is a legal maximum size...it caused chaos and cost when the ground was built because the initial plans had a smaller footprint
Phil Bentham (the ref) tends not to show cards - he could have yellow carded a few from each side and red carded Roberts. It was not clear on TV but at one point Roberts ran 30m to hit a player on the back of the head - not good
The PTB rules in England and Aus are different - in Aus they insist on a play with the foot - in England they don't (I agree with Aus)
I also agree -English commentators .....sky style for all sports is hype - every game is the best/most important ever

Some great Brisbane supporters at the game - great chat after and as a Warrington fan a very enjoyable night.

Still smiling....

Is Warrington always allowed to stand offside or is that a super league thing in general?

Roberts ran in to get some knob off Mead, who was being cuddled to death. He didn't throw a punch.

The ref was absolutely shit. Comments on Warrington being offside all night?

Warrington played far better than Brisbane, that is for sure.

Super League thing. If they actually had to get back 10 metres, the forwards would tire in a heartbeat.

I'm not actually talking about whether it was 10 or 7 metres etc. I'm talking about the fact that the ref is marking the 10 or 7 etc yet half the line would never even make it and the ones that did would leave early.

Roberts' try was pretty good - hopefully a ton more of that this season.

In that situation it's just referee incompetence/bias. Why would you mark the 10 metres if you aren't going to enforce it?

At the end of the day it was 80 mins of physical footy and regardless of the result it was a tough game and a solid warm up for the season ahead. It will be a good wake up call for them and show them that there is still work to do. I'd much prefer that hitout then an easy win against an understength side over four 20 minute quarters that would give us a false sense of security. The cob webs have been blown out now it's time to dig in and work towards round one.

Just on James Roberts, while he may be a bit of a tossa isn't it great to see him beat a full defensive line and run the leangth of the field. It's gotta make you smile knowing we have a guy with the potential to do that!

I agree with you - its all the refs fault and you should have won by 50. All Australian refs are perfect and all Australian players are gods.....
Seriously though - the difference in the PTB makes a large difference

Yeah, Warrington didn't play the ball properly all night.

It was a game of tunnel ball out there.

Quite a few times they didn't even get up properly to play the ball.

And let's not forget the punch that went unpunished while we were penalized for less.

Broncos didn't play well, but the ref made life a lot more difficult allowing Warrington to be offside, letting them get away with punches, awarding a try when it was very clear the Warrington player lost control of the ball.

It was quite honestly one of the most abysmal displays I've seen from any ref.. I always thought the pommy refs were better than the Australian refs. That wasn't the case.

Thought the ref handled the biff that was going on really well with a lot of common sense. The rest of the game was pretty poor from him.

That's not what I was meaning at all. We were out played and the more deserving side one. Regardless of the offside I believe we still would have lost. That doesn't change the fact that they were offside and I asked you a simple question.

If your going to come on an opposition forum after a win to rub their noses in it and then get all precious after being asked a question, then it's not me that has the issue...
