Worst Buys of 2017

But he played less than eight games didn't he, so technically according to most awards, he is still eligible?

So the list so far:

Hayne
Farah
Tamou
Foran
Sims
Mead
Myles
Williams

You're thinking of the Rookie awards, and even then I think it's 4 games or something. Signing is signing. Played for a different club last year.

I had hoped Moses would end up on this list, but alas......

My vote goes to Foran. He fd over the warriors big time.

He was not bad actually, not great but not in the worst discussion.
I honestly don't know, as I don't think I saw him play more than once this year.
Regardless, it is such a waste that it should always belong in the worst discussion. :p

Up until last week, I'd have pencilled in @meady for the Broncs.
GTFO

Meads Bronco debut vs the Roosters which was his best game this yr was a great starting point to a very successful season. Instead he spent the following month on a exercise bike on the bench, then went back to mundane Q cup to get tossed around various positions in which he played quite well. Blah blah blah...a injury, a couple of shockers and a great return in the last few weeks is still miles ahead of Jarrod Fkn Hayne.

Up until last week I had this year pencilled in as his worst career decision ever, shouldnt have turned down Manly :thebadmantookbaxter:

Mead is still up there as one of the worst buys.

Did well off the bench, but when he started he was shocking.

Still had a worst season than Jarryd Hayne. Hayne actually played quite well in quite a few games and was building nicely with the spine.. And then Henry changed it around again.

Dale Copley would also be one of the seasons worst buys. Started off well for the Titans, but just went downhill from there. He has never been able to recapture his 2014 form and I don't think he ever will.

Jamal Idris is another. Just wasn't able to live up to the hype surrounding his signing, some underwhelming performances and then got injured.

Paul Carter for the Roosters. He was a mixed bag and then got the sack for getting in trouble off-field again.

In terms of value for money Hayne has everyone beaten by a rather large margin.

In November of 2016, the Gold Coast Titans thought all their Christmas' had come at once. After years of off-field drama they had finally freed themselves of Greg Bird and replaced him with Kiwi International Kevin Proctor. It was a homecoming of sorts for Proctor who had been a star junior on the Coast, but little did the Gold Coast know what laid ahead. A series of injuries kept Proctor from playing his best football, but of concern was Proctor's drug bust following the Australia vs New Zealand test match. While Proctor took his punishment like a man, the incident exposed Proctor's mind-set and just how little he was taking his career seriously. For a guy that was supposed to usher in a new era at the Gold Coast, so far it seems like more of the same old shit.

Sticking with the Gold Coast Titans and after signing the likes of Ash Taylor, Nathan Peats & Konrad Hurrell many thought their fortunes were about to change. However there was one signing that confused even the most ardent of Gold Coast's supporters - Wigan Warrior's centre Dan Sarginson. Playing more like a wide running second row, Sarginson enjoyed reasonable success in the English Super League where he went onto represent England in the Four Nations. However, Dan never appeared to have the necessary skills or attributes to make it in the NRL, a lesson Gold Coast supporters learned relatively quickly during a frustrating run of 5 games that may rank right up there as some of the worst performances on the Gold Coast. As easy as it is to blame everything on Hayne, some of these signing decisions highlight just how deep these issues really are.

Here are a few 'didn't even make the grade' signings. Players that had a reasonable shot of playing first grade, but didn't feature at all when it was all said and done.

Jordan Turner - Canberra Raiders
Manaia Cherrington - Cronulla Sharks/Warriors
Liam Knight - Sydney Roosters/Canberra Raiders
Rory Kostjasyn - Newcastle Knights
Richard Kennar - Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs
George Jennings - Parramatta Eels
Jonathan Wright - Manly Sea Eagles
Jack Williams - Cronulla Sharks
Mitchell Dodds - Brisbane Broncos

Sarginson is a decent centre imo. He just needed time to settle and Henry was doing Henry stuff like playing him on the wing where he isn't suited. And he also got injured a couple of times.

Tamou - big money for nothing

Foran has been shitty but he's succumbed to warriors syndrome like the rest of them.

Whatever the cause maybe, the end result was rubbish.

I never thought much of him for the Warriors. Big stocky guy with poor hands and so-so defence. I'm still struggling with the rationale behind it.
