State of Origin Game II - NSW vs QLD

Agreed with much of whats been said in here. Man what a game to lose,

Glaringly obvious Ben Pearce I mean Hunt F'd up at pivotal moments, as well as Chambers brain farts.

Will Walters pick up his nuts, says he got it wrong, and drop Hunt & everyone else that was below par for the game we HAD to win?

Probably not. But heres hoping something is done.

Slater & Ponga were boss.

After what JT had to say about hunt after the game last night , how can the selectors disagree and ever give the **** another jersey

I hope the dragons make the gf and lose due to a Ben hunt error after paying 1.2 mil for him

I hope it's in the first period of extra time too. Useless little asshole.

I actually don't see there being too many changes other than some tryouts for next series. Not exactly a whole lot of players putting their hands up at the moment.

Below is not necessarily what I'd go with, I just think Kevvie will give them one last chance to redeem themselves.

1. Slater
2. Val (preferred right side)
3. GI
4. Gagai (right side to see if he has what it takes before next series. Will be a very tough baptism for Gags and Val up against Latrell and Fox... maybe too tough)
5. Oates (left side)
6. Munster
7. Hunt (series is lost so this would be his final chance. Next year reevaluate the options of Morgan (cows will be his team then), Milf (see how his continued development is going) and Taylor (kicking game and continued development)
8. Napa
9. Macca
10. McGuire
11. Cooper (as mentioned by others he's just a placeholder for Gillette, there's also no alternatives screaming out for it so would just be a hit and hope on whoever they pick)
12. Kaufusi
13. Arrow (see if he can knock out 80)

14. Ponga
15. Papa
16. Hess (needs more minutes and to be used better)
17. Offa

I don't see too many viable options screaming out to be picked and I also think the tactics were very poor.

Maloney is a dead set liability out there in defense but was hardly targeted inside the red zone. We have Felise who is a great runner at halves on the edge and Hess who when put 1-on-1 is near impossible to stop. Yet I can barely recall it occurring... it worked in game 1 and then we've barely been back there!!!

Imagine having Felise and Hess hitting Maloney's inside and outside shoulder (at the same time) with Slater sweeping out the back. It'd be a nightmare to defend. Also for the storm Felise receives a lot of his good ball from Slater. Yet Slater was always out the back on the stock standard sweep.

The offense was continually heading down GI and Munster's edge. I get that GI is a great target close to the line, but in game 1 it showed that Cleary is actually a decent defender and going there continually on sweep plays doesn't allow GI to straighten up and hit the line hard, his best asset. Also Cooper isn't a great attacking second rower without JT giving him room service passes, therefore defense can hang off him a little and throw more bodies at GI.

GI is great when he's hit short or on the inside close to the line one on one... basically use him the same as an edge back rower. Latrell scored his try in almost the same fashion.

Just thought the attack inside the 20m was very poor and almost mindless at times.

A stupid dinky Hunt grubbed into Jimmy’s shins who picks it up and runs the length to score the match winner please...

**** the pity for Hunt. I was sorry for the **** in 2015 but after last night, he hasnt changed. Im glad we got rid of him now. He wont ever win a premiership or an origin series. He is too much of a dumb **** to do it. He is our version of Mitchell Pearce
I said the same thing last night.

Only difference is, Pearce has won a premiership, so he’s automatically better than Hunt.

Walters was ruthless with axing Thaiday, miles etc last year. Surely he can do it again this year

What did Thurston say?

No, it's because I honestly don't think people know what a poor game is. Whenever we lose, people just point to Ben Hunt or Milford or Nikorima or McCullough and say "that's a poor game".

The reason Cleary is relevant is because if someone had a game like that for Qld or the Broncos and we lost, he'd be the one getting chewed out. I know this, because this is what happens with Nikorima just about every week.

Lolz......your deflection sheild has now gone from Cleary to Nikorima. C'mon mate, this is just getting sad. Hunt will play twice as many bad games than good. He isn't cut out for SOO.

So the pic is bittersweet nostalgia?

All that is left for Hunt is pity - resentment and bitterness run dry and you realise he alone will look back on his career and know that he just couldn't cut it. I feel bad for him because he looked destined for greatness, but it's in his DNA to be mediocre. He may yet win a premiership or an origin series, but only as a passenger.

So its Monday morning and the blood pressure is back to normal. I knew when Game 1 side was announced we would lose the series. Putting Hunt at Halfback was just insane.. he cannot take the big game pressure and just gets confused and scared when things dont go his way... we need a general and got a private. I still believe he cost us the 2105 GF and then played shit for us till he departed. I also think he cost us the game last night. In my opinion we should have been blooding youngsters with potential even if we lost this years series having lost so many of our legends all in one go.... We should have been looking to the future not picking some known plodders and chokers (Hunt) or 'should have retired's' (Chambers). Chambers has done a great job for us in the past but is now passed it.
On last nights game... Hunt was pathetic..once again choked in the big moments and will never be a halfbacks asshole.
Our forwards seemed to lack any kind of leadership, looked disorganised and went missing at crucial times.
McCullough is a good defender and tries hard but is simply lost in attack. I would rather have (lord forgive me) Hunt or Granville there..at least they can attack if an opportunity arises.
Munster needs to be there and with a decent half would have ripped the blues apart..he spent to much time last night trying to fix Hunt's fkups.
All in all last nights effort looked disjointed and without direction.
Having expressed my opinion on that here is my team suggestion for game 3

1.Ponga - This is an opportunity to get this young man into the QLD fullback position as soon as possible.
2. Holmes - Great young talent who will compete for everything.
3. Inglis - IMO Greg's best position.
4. Gagai - solid no fuss finisher.
5. Oates - Big, strong and again a great finisher.
6. Munster - will be a superstar.
7. Taylor - Has all the youth and talent to be a great HB for many years to come (should be the bronc's HB). Chuck him in.
8. McGuire - Old head and leads by example.
9. Hunt / Granville - Both can defend and can pass if no pressure on them....Granville a better attacker IMO.
10. Napa - Big strong, young and fearless... will grow into a good one.
11. Sua - Another young, strong young man who will get better with time.
12.Papalii - Lazy as fk sometimes ..but..unstoppable if he puts his mind to it and has encouragement around him.
13. Arrow - Ditto like Sua.
14.Slater - Give the 'old man' a break .. bring him on 20 minutes at back of each half.. would be deadly.
15. Offa - Has the potential to be another Napa.
16.Kaufusi - Ditto like Papalli.
17. Hess - With good leadership will develop into another real good one.

I know some peeps will say some are too young for the SOO arena but NOW is the ideal time to give these lads a go... nothing to lose and everything to gain.

This is a much better team than others suggested tor game 3. The only thing in the whole post that made me puke was............................................peeps ! people has 6 letters, peeps has 5...really, so is it to be cool ha ha ? It's not.

What did Thurston say?

That all of Hunts plays in the second half were abysmal and he cant believe he was making some of those decisions. It was equivalent to Johns presser last year game 2 about NSW just directly aimed at Hunt and the complete lack of composure.

You guys think Taylor can learn how to tackle before game 3?

Last 10 minutes, Roberts is binned, all our best players are on the left, and we still go right to Hunt more often than left. Bravo. Is it the buddy thing?

I dunno who we can replace Hunt with to be honest. No one else seems really up to it either. Gunster is the only QLD half that's playing well at both club level and for QLD.

You guys think Taylor can learn how to tackle before game 3?

Yawn.

"Ponga isn't ready defensively for Origin, where are we going to play him??"

Ponga proceeds to defend in the middle for 55 minutes, make 29 tackles (4th most on the team) and only miss 4. This whole leaving players out of the discussion because they're not great defenders at club land is such a cop out, look at Maloney, he's woeful defensively and yet he's picked every year.

The fact of the matter is that Taylor has a better kicking game than Hunt, literally nobody can refute that, and that's the main thing we lacked in G1 & G2.

Anyone who saying Chambers should stay he missed 10 Fucking tackles
