One standout positive from last night - Staggs handled Mitchell very well.

He was giving away significant height and weight, but has a tonne more heart.

Get that kid in the 13 every week. Somewhere, anywhere.
Plenty of room on the bandwagon mate. I believe @mitch222 started it, everything i've seen of him screams gun.

I don’t think it was ever a secret.

But it’s still noteworthy how he handled one of the most damaging ball runners in the comp without so much of a hiccup.

The kid might make mistakes sometimes, but not because he isn’t laser-focussed or trying hard enough. Indeed it’s probably the exact opposite, he’s probably trying too hard.

His tenacity is inspiring.

I think mitch saw him play before he came to the Broncs. Apparently the kid is a huge broncos fan to boot, so it's not surprising he puts in, he is legit living the dream.

I agree with you re: Mitchell, shut him down and also gave him a few problems.

I knew it when he was 14
The most naturally gifted footballer I've seen come through the central west nsw system and I am including players like Ferguson, Peachey, Joel Thompson, Isaah Yeo etc. The fact that he was tearing first grade teams apart when he was 16 is just unheard considering the strength of the local football out here. And very level headed. He puts the work in at every stop. I know its a huge statement but he will be an international in the next 3 years. He just has it

Just out of curiosity, where do you see us his best position?

My first proper look at him was in a trial match where he came off the bench at hooker and I’ve never quite shaken the thought that he could really be a gun there if given a shot.

Centre or Lock. He played lock in the under 18s but that was purely because he was just above everyone else and it was like an under 6s game - pass the ball to Katoni and you will score. He has tremendous ball playing ability too. I think at centre you see his best work though. He is a terrific defender, has great instincts to be just there when he needs to be, and can finish a try.

What side is his preference?

Of course there was one positive to come out of last night. With the Roosters at the top of their game and with our forwards whose stamina is already poor without having to do, or kind of trying to do, a mountain of defence, in the 3rd quarter of that game we matched them and came out on top. Something to build on.

Is this the first time there was almost a 100% agreement on how terrible Boyd was? Even Morkel didn't quite defend him like in the past.

I defended him to an extent last year because of the hammy thing, not ardently or anything I just thought the haters were jumping the gun a bit. And I never liked his attitude of throwing his arms up and whinging for a penalty every time he got tackled. But after all the pre-season crap about "best I've ever felt" and "fastest I've ever run" he is surely taking the piss. I said before rd1 I hope Seibold has had an honest discussion with him. Someone said he wasn't at the presser with Seibold....more sooking? I wonder what was said in that locker room at full time.

Cult3 has gone quiet too, just saying.

1. Isaako
3/4. Staggs/Roberts.
5. Boyd
6. Bird
7. Milford
14. KNik.
(or even experiment having Roberts on the wing outside of Boyd)

Either way, if we persist with the same 1/6/7/9 it will be the definition of insanity. Bird offers some more defensive oomp in the halves and has more leadership qualities. Macca is struggling with 80. Staggs is playing too good not to be in the 13. Boyd has zero xfactor in fullback.

But still ended the half 14-4
