I think the NRL should consider allowing the 18th man to be activated if a player shows Category 1 symptoms and fails the HIA, even if the head injury was not caused by foul play.

Head injuries just seem more and more common, and probably more likely than any other injury. Losing a player to a head injury for the rest of the match really changes the outcome of the match, particularly if it happens early in the match.

With an independent doctor and with the mandatory stand down period already in place, it should hopefully be enough to stop a team from rorting the system.

we are 100% desperate for a bit of mongrel in this team

they're gonna get steamrolled by raiders type teams all year unless someone stands up
Yep without the **** factor you can't get others teams off their game. From memory the only players that had that in them for us were McGuire, Pangai, Flegler & Gamble.

There would have to be a time limit on it otherwise teams would exploit it towards the end of games.
I think maybe first 15mins if there is a player gone for the game the 18th man can be activated.

I like that as an idea... it removes the clubs and coaches from being able to rig the system by putting it in the independent doctor's hands.

Good call... which probably means the NRL won't do it

I thought when the HIA thing was introduced it was always supposed to be an independent doctor to avoid the free interchange abuse

I tell you what, after the Mam/Leniu incident, if Souffs defend against us like they did in Vegas, we will make them look stupid.

Hoping to see this

1. Walsh
2. Mariner *Still think Oates was the right pick, but Mariner should be stuck with now he is picked.
3. Staggs
4. Cobbo
5. Arthars
6. Mam
7. Reynolds
8. Jensen
9. Walters
10. Haas
11. Piakura
12. Riki
13. Carrigan
14. Smoothy
15. Hetherington
16. Hunt
17. Willison

18. Oates

Jensen really needs to start, he just keeps delivering for us and it suits us him starting. Hunt to come into play middle, but be there to cover an edge if needed, and Willison is a long term player and should be getting the minutes Marty got in rd1.

Kent and Anasta basically wrote us off on 360 tonight for the season after 1 loss against the Chooks on a non regulation field that didn't suit us, in Rd1.

I cant wait for this game. Shame its a Thursday night and shame its over a week away, but I can't wait.

That's gold. Played like complete bustards against a supposedly top-8 material team who played near perfectly, lost a key player within 5 minutes, lost by 10 on an intercept try and a forward pass while Arthars also would have scored on a regulation field....

A couple of minor things go our way and the scorelines are reversed. Against a fellow top 8 team. Minus a player basically all game. Playing like a shadow of the team this is.

We will be fine.

Not going to lie, after his last few kicking performances. I think we would be at worse on par by having Madden play.

Woah !
I have been quietly contemplating that myself .

You are a brave person to state it publicly . What happens if Madden does well . Does Arey play Q Cup ?

We can't be throwing out Reynolds after two poor games, particularly when one of them was months ago. He has earned the right to be stood by for some time yet. But if he was injured again on the back of being injured early in the GF and it affects his kicking so much, he needs to give the kicking reigns to Walsh. And both injuries were to his leg, so it is understandable if that put him off his kicking game. Even so, he really needs to make a statement whenever his next game is.

Nah .
That leads to Walsh having to be close to the ruck on play 4-5 to be ready to kick .[We saw how that stifled Milfords game .]
And not in the attacking shapes they like to run on the left .
As the Broncos love to work to the right touch line for kicks Walsh will have to stay on the right side and then kick left footed into the right corner . Not ideal .

If Arey is not kicking . Does his running / passing game warrant selection ?
