Anonymous person always says we pay mediocre players very highly.

So we probably can't afford both.

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

Pretty much just got an SMS about well the above. Door is slightly ajar and not 'tightly closed' as Coxy put it. Interesting.
I hope it's not BS. I still want Dugan to play for us. I rate him very highly as a player.

Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

It's bullshit according to Chris Garry. He said all hell would break lose if it happened

Yeah but what does he even mean by that

i say it because its true - unless you really think players like wallace are worth ~$350k-$400k. we just offered reed $250k per year after his second year, in which he was terrible pretty much all year - can you imagine what we're paying guys who have been with us 5+ years?

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

must admit it is confusing / frustrating to hear the same old line from the broncos being strapped for salary cap cash despite the roster getting weaker on paper over the last few seasons .... and all while the likes of South Sydney load up their roster with origin players, internationals & about 48 monoliths with the surname 'burgess' ...

I just assumed the club says they're chockers so they're not always speculated to be linked to certain signings. Because any club with free cash is always a target for "X player has the interests of [insert club with free cap space here]".

The Dugan signing proved we have at least 1-2 million free under the cap over the next few years, that's at least one top end player.

I was never doubting you.

It's bullshit according to Chris Garry.

This is the same guy that ripped into Dugan for his 'vile' rant, without checking out why he posted the things he did.

Yeah, Chris is a halfwit, he makes Slothfield look credible. He knows sfa

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

I have now heard the same rumour (door not totally closed) from another source outside of BHQ.
He is by no means an "insider", but often gets this stuff right...

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

I hope he still manages to find a way onto our payroll

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

Although it's unlikely that he will end up here, it's not entirely an impossibility. Something along the lines...

"A few weeks ago we ended our negotiations with Josh because he wasn't in the right head space to come to our club. He needed a few weeks to meet with the NRL and determine a plan that would see him return to the NRL. Josh contacted us recently and reiterated his desire to be a Bronco. We were really impressed with the commitments he has made to us as a club, he has accepted less money, and is willing to prove to the club that he has turned a corner and wants to be a force in the NRL with the NRMA Insurance Brisbane Broncos."

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

Look at it this way. Long term.

Say the NRL said (and it's not outside of the realms of possibility), we are not registering any contract for Josh Dugan in 2013.

No short term injection to fix the Broncos problems and essentially banking the future of the Broncos on Josh Dugan.

Would you still sign him up? What about if it was at the expense of Ben Hunt?

But it wouldn't be at the expense of Ben Hunt would it ?

We've proven we have enough in the coffers now to sign Dugan, and with Norman going, we'd have more than enough to upgrade Hunt if we decided to.

Re: Josh Dugan - Broncos withdraw their offer

let it go...

can't.

The NRL have now said that he's fit to play in this years competition, IF somebody wishes to register him.

Let's grab him now before he goes to St. Merge and carves it up !!!
