Broncos High Performance Centre

Only the gym is orginal, everything else was redeveloped, when it was done Benny said the gym doesn't get modernised- new gyms make soft people is his rule, so no air con, no tv, no fancy equipment. The redevelopment was done around the gym- upstairs is video room, pool room and table tennis with somewhere to sleep as well and all the staff offices and downstairs is gym, lockers and two pools.

It's a great facility and nothing is missing that the players could need.

Thanks heaps, 1910. Very insightful. I miss Bennett. It's tough to argue with his logic regarding the gym.

It's a different era now and the sports science stuff is seen as a way of gaining a competitive edge, it's like an arms race, we have to do it because others are.

Broncos haven't falled behind anyone, bit cramped but not lacking.

Where has the club been quoted saying they've fallen behind other clubs and citing facilities as a reason?
"The proposed $25 million facility is considered vital for attracting and retaining players, coaches and staff, as our existing football operations building and gym is markedly behind the standard of facilities and amenities utilised by many of our competitors, especially those winning premierships."

Well, at least they're acknowledging we're falling behind. We should never be in any position except in the top echelon of clubs when it comes to consistent on field form.

It was done on purpose, I've already told you that. Of course it is behind the times- that's the point! You've just restated my story again.

It sounds like they're moving away from Bennett's philosophy. I wonder what kind of set up clubs like Manly and the Roosters have and if it makes that big of a difference when winning a premiership (I always thought it was luck with injuries, depth in key positions and big match experience that were the ultimate factors). A gym is a gym, right...?

Manly use the Sydney Academy of Sport at Narrabeen and Roosters use the SFS for pool and gym but not training.

Both are excellent facilities.

I don't believe I disagreed that it was by design, I said it is a different era now and the club had acknowledged it had fallen behind, which they clearly have as evidenced by the quote that you asked for.

I disagree.

A chairman's job is to build the business. He's doing what he's employed to do.

You're making a hell of a lot of assumptions- a new gym equals winning? Storm had dominated for a long time out of Olympic Park the worst facilities in the world. How'd that happen?

Ricky said one of the reasons for Parra's poor form was the facilities at Parra- didn't harm the Wanderers.

Again, you are putting words in my mouth, you might as well be arguing with yourself. I didn't say a new gym equaled winning. I said the clubs facilities had fallen behind other clubs, which by their own admission, they have.

and the Wanderers are based at Blacktown, not parramatta.

Wanderers play and train all the time at Parramatta Stadium.

You agreed it is behind other teams and needed improvement- so if you don't think improving will enhance performance and equals wins then there is no need to do it- it's a waste of time if the result isn't going to be positive.

I am not aruging with anyone, but you made the statement and should be able to support your view.

I hate it when mum and dad fight
