[Confirmed] Ben Barba signs with Cronulla

Nope.

Barba was moved to 5/8th to cover Hoffman who was stinking the place up. Milford coming to play 5/8th would mean Barba goes back to FB. Boyds signing 100% pushes Barba out of the team.

Hoffman was stinking it up from day 1. The swap was only done after we lost a couple of games in succession due to Barba having shockers in defence.

lol we didnt lose any games because of barbas defence.

If you're blaming the fullbacks defence then you've already lost the game as it means the rest of the team arent doing their job.

So if the switch was solely to do with Hoffman, then why did it take so long to occur? Hoffman was awful at 6 the whole time

I am almost certain you said yesterday that you were not going to comment on Boyd replacing Barba again:smile:
You are like a dog with a bone, you can't let it go

Oh come on people, can we please not go back to the same circle jerk?

I'm trying not to, but this:

Sorry broncos4life is a moderator/admin and you are not allowed to ignore him or her.

doesn't make it easy. Didn't realise he was a mod/admin.

I didnt comment on who is better or if its a good/bad move, simply that the truth of it is that Boyd signing pushed Barba out of the team, as someone is trying to pretend that it didn't.

He isn't, that is due to SVRL settings. We're looking into it...

How?

He wanted to reunite with his family that had moved up north, and had still 2 years of contract left at the Bulldogs, who didn't want to let him go, and only released him under the condition he wouldn't earn more than he was earning at the Bulldogs.

We could argue that he would get back pay in 2016, but to satisfy the numbers being thrown around, he would have to be paid $2M in 2016 out of the Broncos cap, to reach a total of $2.7M, or the reported $900K a year. Surely not even Gee would be that stupid, and that's forgetting what Paul White and the board would think of such a deal severely affecting the 2016 cap.

Now, even if those reports were right, and he was close to $1M a season for the next 2 years...
After having established himself in Brisbane, albeit he has no guaranteed position in the 17 under WB, and having been granted a release, one of the perennial spoon contenders is trying to attract him back to Sydney.

Please tell me which of the above is a weaker position?
Weaker because he has had season so indifferent that his club wants to let him go. His defensive frailties are simple to exploit. The most experienced and successful NRL coach cannot see any value in him even though we're in a rebuilding phase. sharks are obviously hoping for his 2012 form, but frankly , it's becoming a distant memory. Ben has more the look of Ewan mcgrady at the moment.
I wish him the best. Maybe he can prove me wrong ,but being in the shire with the epic bender crew is where the trouble started.

Let's take the blame game further. Let's blame Barba for his departure. If he'd played to half of his 2012 form, perhaps the Broncos would have looked better and Griffin would never have got the sack. Or let's blame Griffin, for fattening up Barba and ruining his speed. How far do you want to go?

Or how about this. To anyone and everyone on this forum... If you're against what's been going on at the Broncos, suck it up. You can jump to the conclusion that you've been raped and violated and that someone has to take the blame. Or you can take a look at your ripe red sphincter and at least entertain the possibility that you backed the wrong fucking Vindaloo and shit just fucking happens.

Here's how I see it. You have two options. Support the Broncos. And in that, you support the team. Every fucking player. Every fucking coach. You can criticise where it's due, but you hope that every single one of them steps up and has career years and the Broncos are a success on and off the field. Or you can stay under your fucking bridge, stew over it, maybe even hope that Bennett, Boyd, someone fails, just to justify your butthurt. If you belong to the latter group, **** off now. Seriously, you're not a fan of the team, you're a fan of your own opinions and this forum, that supports the Broncos, is no home for you.

End of.

Good post Morkel. I've said before that i can't imagine a scenario where i will ever stop supporting the Broncos.

But as you're all abundantly clear, i am of the opinion that hiring Bennett, signing Boyd and releasing Barba, are all wrong decisions. But i hope they all prove me wrong.

I hope Bennett makes the tough decisions required (including moving Boyd to wing, if he isnt performing at fullback)

I hope Boyd carves up at fullback and we don't regret releasing Barba.

And i will be the first to admit it if I'm wrong, but for that to happen it means:

For Bennett - close out games, better ladder positions, making the hard decisions when required, leaves us in a better position when he leaves than when he got here.

For Boyd - consistently good performances throughout his time with us, not just the odd good game

How about we don't tell people how to support a team? Some people are like religious zealots, some just like a certain player, some the entertainment, some for what the club stands for.

Its not up to you to say "this is how "real" supporters act so if you don't do that then piss off". That in itself is so incredibly arrogant and idiotic that maybe you need to **** off yourself. People will support a team however the hell they want.

No. That's supporting a player. Or watching the game itself for entertainment. That's not supporting a team. Wishing a player breaks their leg is not supporting a team. It's supporting your own agenda, or ego, it's a fucking wank and I can point you in the direction of plenty of sites for that. On your way, pumpkin.

Good to hear Foordy, whether the right decisions have been made or not, at least we all want the same outcome.

Just listened to some audio from the grill team and both Matty and MG said they would take Barba over Boyd if given the choice.

2 seasons ago if you said Griffin should be sacked you were given the "you are not a true fan" crap. That changed in a big tune in a hurry.

There is a guy at my work who goes to every game at Suncorp dressed all out in Broncos apparel who also claims to be a bigger fan then me. Then he comes in Monday and trashes half the team.
