We would be getting the 6pm timeslot.

They have said Sydney won't be getting it because of concerns of people not being able to get home in time to watch it or to get to the game because of traffic etc.

Like we won't have the same fucking issue. They have obviously never seen Brisbane around that time, or the Bruce Highway at that time..

So channel 9 are dumping the 6pm news and ACA? Or have they dumped the Broncos and we're off to Fox?

I think it's going to be the same as this year.

Both will have broadcast rights for the game, and I think they will be pushing those programs to an earlier timeslot.

Or, the Warriors, Cowboys or Melbourne will be getting the 6pm timeslot. But we will get some of them.

Either way, they have said Sydney won't be getting it.

Apparently we can't have the 6pm games due to restrictions around the use of Suncorp Stadium that close to peak hour.

I think it pretty much comes down to Newcastle, Gold Coast and Warriors (edit: also Melbourne) who'll be able to play them.

It's a ridiculous idea. Just play a third Sunday game for heaven's sake.

Is next year when they're splitting up the origin period so the 2nd game is a bye round?

If so that's a step in the right direction.

Melbourne also has the same issue, not that anyone goes to games. But that is just a stupid, stupid idea. Yet, another brilliant stupidity from the brains-rust ;) that is the NRL.

TV rights dictating the schedule. It was to be expected. If 2am games rated, that's when we'd play them.

I get what you're saying, but the fact you're saying it, would suggest you've never experienced the peak in Sydney. Brisbane have is fucking easy compared to that shithole.

**** 'em. If they want to live in Australia's arsehole they can bloody well deal with the consequences. It's not like Sydnicans go to games anyway.

Who came up with this 6pm game idea anyway?

It's unbelievably stupid.

I'm not sure what the NRL/Suncorp are going to do if we finish 5th. The The Wallabies are playing at 8pm and we would be playing the elimination final at 6pm.

They'll need to be good to manage that if my info is correct.

Looks like they will just have to make sure the Cowboys lose.

Double header. The Broncos game from 6-8 and then the Rugby for those who want to go to sleep early that night.

Wallabies should just forfeit anyway, better for everyone that way.

The 2016 finals series will have captain's challenge introduced..

THE NRL is set to take the radical step of introducing captain’s challenge for the finals series, with the system trialled in the under 20s finally given the green light.

The challenge system was brought in for the NYC competition in 2012 and has been used in that competition ever since.

Using the same video review technology currently called upon at the discretion of the on-field referees when a try is scored, the captain’s challenge system allows the skipper of both teams to call for a review of any on-field call.

Under the rules used in the Holden Cup, the captain of each side gets one challenge per half.

It’s a system that has its supporters at NRL level, with former Broncos skipper Justin Hodges encouraging the NRL to bring it in at the start of last year.

“It works well in the NFL with the coach’s challenge and I have seen it work in the 20s in our game with the captain’s challenge,” Hodges said.

“I like it. It can only help the referees and us.

“Especially in semi-finals and grand finals when you are talking about decisions that can either win or lose you the game.

“It helps the referees. The challenge system gives them more time to get it right.”

While captain’s challenges would seem most useful in resolving decisions regarding tries, the challenges have also been used to review 50-50 calls, such as strips.

The controversial call to introduce captain’s challenge for the high stakes finals series, at the end of a season where it hasn’t previously been used, was made at today’s club CEOs conference, held at NRL House.

The decision to introduce the system will be confirmed at a press conference to be held this afternoon.
