Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2016

I think people are being too harsh on Lodge, nrl and life itself loves a comeback story and he will hopefully be another and Broncos can be the team to help.

Its good he apologized and says he's been doing a lot of community work. As someone who has made some pretty big mistakes myself (though certainly not of a thuggery nature), I certainly appreciate those who can accept me and see the changes I have made. If he has genuinely worked as hard as he says he has and has learned from what he did, I'm not against him being given another shot so long as he works his butt off for it and isn't handed it on a silver platter.

Mogg will be good for him; he is pretty confident he can help him.

If Lodge was willing to come here on Intern wages, I'd be willing to give him a shot. One strike and you're out policy however. I'm not copping my club being tainted with shit like that.

Unless I'm mistaken, this isn't even close to Lodge's first indiscretion. Maybe this most recent one was severe enough to be a wake up call for him, but that doesn't mean he should be allowed back in the NRL. He's apparently had numerous warnings, if he didn't heed them then, why does he get yet another chance?

Is that what we'll do with Fifita? Wait until he tries to kill someone and gets dragged through the courts, and then he gets one more chance because he finally realises he has a genuine problem?

Fafita did threaten someone. Junior grade ref in the Penrith comp.

Personally I subscribe to the Leigh Matthews thought process - I'd sign a convicted serial killer if I thought he would improve the side.

I understand community sponsors and some people just like to sit on the side of morality, and that's fine - but for me sport at this level is all about winning, and if I can find someone who will give me a better shot at winning, I don't really care who they are outside of sport - that's for the cops to deal with.

My thoughts exactly, I don't know these guys personally so why would I give a shit about what they do in their private lives. I would settle for the entire solitary confinement ward of the Woodford prison if it meant ending this long premiership drought.

Exactly.

A lot of folk are talking about giving him a 'second' chance, but is this really his 'second' chance? Seems like he's had plenty of chances before, let himself and his team down, and it finally snowballed into his sacking.

FWIW, I truly hope the bloke can get his life back on track.

Sport is not only about winning, certainly not at all costs, regardless of the level you play at.

The importance of sports in society is often underestimated and misunderstood. They serve the purpose of teaching teamwork, as well as showing the importance of rules in society... and that no one is above said rules!

Sports at the top level are even more important due to their public reach and influence, not to speak of the rewards that come with them.
Allowing serious criminals to reach that level, is essentially saying that committing serious offenses won't stop you from reaching the top, and become rich and famous.

I for one, am not willing to accept that, just to feel good about a competition win...

I agree ☝️ I would much rather see his new team mate Dave Hala be given a chance before him in a broncos jumper

Hala's already been given chances and mostly come up short.

He has been ravaged by injury and even retired from the game for a short period there. I am glad he is back playing but his NRL days are long past him.

He is a huge body that's what our team needs really it's a plus he plays long minutes he has aggression who cares if he gives away an odd penalty
True. I think he would be much better than that over rated mop headed thing we have at the moment.
