Ben Hunt vs Ash Taylor

So age and the experience of playing NRL counts for nothing... gotcha. :lostit:

I notice you don't have this same attitude when Hunt is compared to players older and far more experienced than him.

I guess it only applies when comparing Hunt and Taylor...

Yeah, I forgot... Hunt is almost 28, and has been around the NRL for 8 years, played 200+ NRL games, but he's still just a rookie, right?

He is 26, hasn't played 200+ plus games at all, has been an NRL halfback for 3 years (91 games as a halfback) and is being compared to players that are much older, have been a halfback for a lot longer and are far more experienced in the position playing at Origin and International level in the position.

I fail to see how it's a fair comparison...

Yes you're right, he's played 166 games (I misread his info, and quoted his total amount of points).

He's always been a half, not just the last 3 years, what a load of crock.
He may have played from the bench for a while as a backup hooker, but that doesn't take away from his NRL experience, and he should at least have improved his kicking in that period. I mean, Macca kicks better than him ffs!

Every one of those seasons where he played from the bench, he got as many opportunities as the rest of the halves to snatch a spot. 2011 was never going to happen of course, Locky and Wallace were a great combo, but after that, he still didn't manage to grab a spot for another 3 years, despite the less than stellar halves we had!

And don't even try to brink Hook into the discussion, because besides being his U20 coach, thus knowing him quite well, he has shown at Penrith that he will hook whomever necessary and bring young talented halves into the team when necessary.

Regardless, I haven't compared him to Cronk or Thurston (which he doesn't even come close to, and neither does Taylor), who are so far ahead of the rest, it's not funny. But it would be a fairer comparison than against a rookie half in his first NRL season.

Maybe Hook learnt his lesson after all the mistakes he made coaching us. I notice his players don't bulk up as much anymore either.

Yeah, 3 years as an NRL halfback. Because a hooker is not a half.

But anyway, it probably would be a bit unfair to compare Hunt to Taylor.. But I wasn't really comparing who was the better player this year.. I was comparing the quality of the highlight reels. Who's was prettier, for lack of a better term and I don't see how that could be unfair.

One of the conditions for Ashley Taylor being released was he gets to play first grade. He's getting experience at another teams expense. He's coming back to us, don't worry about that.

This is the post i keep refering to!

If he wasn't released his contract with us would have been up at the end of 2016. Once he re-signed with the Titans any clauses along those lines would have certainly been removed

You seem a bit resistant to Taylor Foordy... why's that?

Im not going to go in circles with you. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

The only clause I have ever heard of where the opposition get to pick your team was BJ Leilua. He wasn't allowed to play against the Knights a few weeks after shifting to the Raiders.

Stipulating that he has to play NRL is just not believable. So the Titans would have been locked in no matter how his form was going? Thurston rings up and says I want to come to the Coast- we have to play Taylor all year sorry.

I can't see it sorry. The Broncos couldn't even keep a straight face requesting that clause.

Titans were in all sorts when they signed Taylor... if you ask me it may have been a favour from Bennett to Henry "looks like your teams fucked there Neil, ill flick you a good youngster then when Kane's back on deck and you get your shit sorted I'll get Ash back, deal?"

Henry: "Suuuuuure!"

And when it comes time to get Taylor back and Bennett says, "But you said you would give him back."

Henry would just stand there with a grin on his face and say, "Things change, bro."
