I don't usually buy in to these rumours that appear out of nowhere, but I get this weird feeling that the Inglis one may have legs.. The entire situation down at Souths seems weird, a few weeks ago they were completely out of the Gagai race, then they've suddenly signed him a week later to big money.. and now they're magically in the box seat for Maloney as well, where is this cash coming from?

Not unrealistic to think that Inglis has requested a release to finish his career up here, with extra weight added because of him publicly dealing with mental issues over the last month or so. Someone asked Moley in passing about a week ago if he thinks Inglis will finish his career at Souths, he replied "No, I think he'll head north", which was well before this rumour was re-ignited.

Only scenario I'm on board with giving him a 3 year deal is if it's extremely below market value, and obviously contingent on him agreeing to play left centre exclusively for us. It would suck some major ass if we lose Roberts to accomplish this though, Roberts is FAR more important.

Coach Wayne Bennett had also previously stated he would never turn down Inglis should he wish to join the maroon and gold, the same team he rejected for the Rabbitohs when he left the Storm in 2010.

If Inglis is wanting to come up here for personal reasons I doubt he'd be asking for big money, youd hope the club is well aware that Roberts has potential to be the best centre in the world and should be top priority.

GI would still be a top 5 centre, potentially the best. However, Souths playing him at FB ruined his body, so who knows if he'll come back the same player, I'd still take him here for the right price though.

Having a GI/ Roberts centre pairing may help us play Bird at 13 or 6 because of the threat they'd pose.

It may actually enable us to get away with playing Bird at 13, because the big issue with that was going to be a lack of go forward out of our own end, but having GI, Oates & Roberts taking the occasional carry for us would be huge, they're 3 of the best outside backs in the game when it comes to metre eating.
