The Cowboys had 60% possession and 68% territory in the second half and the Broncos got caned in the penalty count.. It's hard to attack when you don't have the ball.

...and when you do finally get the ball you are gassed from defending your ass off.

The only way we were getting the ball back was if the cowboys made a mistake - god knows the refs were never gonna let us have it back for working our asses off in defense.

I would not have been surprised if they had come up with more bs penalties when the cowboys did drop it...

"Penalty Cowboys"

Broncos "why???"

Ref: "You tackled them so much they ended up dropping the ball before they got to score..."

(still angry)

I think Hunt's defence has been underrated by a fair few people on here.

He stopped Taumalolo one-on-one twice.

He just outsmarted LoLo. No chance of tackling him head on. Sling him to the ground.

When the cowboys finally knocked the ball on at the end, it was great to see the broncos all come in to high 5 each other. The media wanted to paint the picture of a broncos implosion after last weeks debacle

So much this.

Injuries aside, I was quite happy with our effort tonight. Defence was committed, and attack on point.

Had we enjoyed an even blow of the whistle in the second half we would have ruined them. That said, I think it was good for the boys to get a work out in defence, build their confidence.

Hopefully Boyd and TPJ come back soon in good shape. Not worth risking next week, though I don't think we would get away with Niko at the back against the Roosters (as our most likely opponent).

I'm wondering if the ice for TPJ was just precautionary. I thought he was 1-2 weeks and he came off at the 70min mark so that was the end of his spell anyway... Just getting some ice on it to help further recovery??

Bennett said in the presser that it was just cramping and that he should be alright. Darbs will struggle to pass fit for next week though pending a visit to the GP in the morning.

Wouldn't worry too much about the reffing, we won comfortably and mightve ended their season.

The only negatives are boyd and tpjs hamstrings, they can be tricky things and time isn't on ours and their side given its r26...

Mcguire deserved motm

This and Blair's elation at barging over after last week's showing were the highlights.

It was like Blair's try was the match-winning try in the GF.

I think he was just happy he didn't have to do the nudie run.. Or the nude tree.

I didn't mind Knik at fullback. Wish he had gone harder for the little grubber from Morgan, but he didn't miss much of a beat in defense. On the other hand, loved to see him sniff around the ruck (when we had the ball, which wasn't too often) in attack.

Boyd's injury could be a blessing in disguise next week, if Kodi is able to organise the defense reasonably well.

A Milford, Benji, Hunt, Knik spine would be absolutely lethal against a team like the Chooks, whom we are almost certainly playing.
If we can maintain cohesion in defense, get fast play the balls, and don't have Sutton pin us down in our own half continuously, which was the main reason for Milford being less visible in the second half (not because he deferred to Marshall), we can perfectly set-up for a home preliminary final and have a week off to rest and recover troops like Darius and TPJ.

Loved the second half more than the first, because we showed the commitment to each other that we need to be a force in the finals, and didn't let Sutton "make it a close one" like the script demanded. Outrageous reffing, seriously!

Our left side defense is still a concern with Moga making bonehead decisions and Oates bomb catching iffiness (wish he was as safe as Kahu, making him practically unbeatable with his size). On the other hand, Glenn and Milford have certainly turned it up, which is good to see, especially from Anthony and his bung shoulder.

Marshall's spiral bomb... oh, how I've missed that from the Broncos since Locky's departure.

Boyd took the criticism from last week front on, and took some good runs with the ball. Happy to see that from the captain. Deeds, not words!

P.S. Gavin Cooper almost had the gal to complain about the refs in the presser... wow!

I think it's more that he's gone two years without scoring. Nudie run shouldn't bother him, dude's shredded.

Any of our boys a chance to miss a week for the dodgy high shot/dangerous tackle calls?

Surely not. Mogas tackle was perfection. Absolute rubbish penalty. Wish Peter Ryan could do a session with the boys every week
