Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

I just can't see Pearce wanting to uproot his life to head to qld. He's not exactly short on offers in Sydney.

He could also look into Melbourne and go straight into a premiership contending team under the coach who developed the guy that just took his job.

Or he could suck it up learn off Cronk and potentially pocket another premiership.

I don't want Pearce anyway... but I don't see how we have funds outright and there are clubs in Sydney that won't need the rorters to subsidise the deal

Still think keary might pop up as an option

Pearce is at best currently 400K per year player. Hes probably being paid over for what he has delivered at Roosters (some reports of 550-600?).

If he comes to Brisbane we could pick him up as cheap as 250-300k per year with Roosters picking up some of the tab outside of this. For this money he is worth putting Kodi back to the bench. Kodi is still not a premiership halfback and never will be - Wayne and most smart football brains see this. We missed taylor (which is probably a good thing for the money he signed on), Carney has 4 years left on the market but would still be a big risk. Wayne & KW could teach Pearce a strong game management brain - Milf can be the flamboyant side - its a very good mix that has the ability to win the competition most days of the week. Theres 4-5 solid years left in Pearce, Milf is around for 4 years, Mcullogh has 4 years in him. It is an opportunity to build a stomach we have not had since Ben hunt had a mental breakdown after dropping the ball in 2015 GF.

The options left market wise would be:
Kiieeerrry - 500K
Pearce -250-300K
Carney - 200K
Kodi - Free.

i would also like to add - a lot say he isnt suited to the club or team. Yes his kicking game has been weak, but hes also been handed the role of trying to be the major attacking half at Roosters. If he was to focus purely on game management, this takes the load of Milf. Ironically milfs strength is to be flamboyant and run the game as the wind blows. Milf cannot lead Kodi, and Kodi doesnt have the stature to dominate big games. its a combination that stupidly would work very well when you go back to their basics.

Based on what? 2005 figures?

Are you forgetting that Ben Hunt is being paid $1.2m per season or what, Pearce is a much better all-around club level Halfback than Hunt is.

Wouldn't think so. Not the sort of player we need.

I don't know about that. He played his junior career at halfback but in the nrl he's just been next to established halfbacks in Reynolds and Pearce. I think he has what it takes to be what we need.

It makes more sense in my mind, Pearce is the junior that they love, keary is the qld born Souths junior been there one season

He's the sort of player I can see us going for and the player most likely to leave.

There isn’t a starting half in the NRL on those figures. You are deluded if you think that and Milford is going to retire at 27 is he? If the reports are correct Jayden Nikorima is getting paid $350k as a depth halfback... That is the sort of money halfbacks of even slight potential are being paid in the current market whether you like it or not.

As to Milford, wow. Can you tell me tomorrow night’s Oz Lotto numbers? I could do with a snappy $15m...

Exactly, a born and bred Sydney boy may not be too keen on living in sleepy ol' Brissy. It's hot, it's tiny and it's full of Qlders. The WB factor may sway him north but he will probably opt for another Syd club if there is interest. I would love to have him because we need a HB with his talent and experience but I won't hold my breath.

Not even counting all the other reasons, didn’t White publicly rule him out as unaffordable a day or two ago?

Yeah, he did but a thousand rumours have swirled around since then. You never know what the next day brings in this great game of ours but Pearce becoming a Bronco is a million to one.

Isn’t Bird a born and bred nsw player and he’s coming to broncos.

I said milf has at least 4 years, thats with us, maybe injury - you dont know he could brain explode.

Sure lower guys are retained at those dollars, the bigger guys pull in the ++ dollars of TPS. Ben hunt is getting payed a large sum because dragons probably struggled to muster guaranteed TPS to subsidise him. Pearce would pull solid TPS, tip in from roosters and his origin and club form has knocked him down the ladder value wise.

I’d be happy with signing news on Lodge (or another big bopper with the potential as a player many see in him) and some utility depth able to cover half or hooker to a reasonable degree.

We need that far more than a marquee player at the moment, IMHO. We have gone from 3 halfbacks vying for one spot in 2017 to one next year... From McCullough as a starter with Waddell / Hunt as back up this year to McCullough and who?

Depth in key positions, definitely worries me more than marquee signings for next year...

Totally agree. The current squad as it is right now is far weaker than last year (2017) and isn't a prayer of a premiership. But WB usually has something up his sleeve and I expect to see some roster movements in the coming months. If not, then some key players will have to have career defining seasons next year. But an effective HB and an aggressive big forward who can churn out at least 150m a game is a must IMO.

Bird beats to a different drum though and is much younger than Pearce. Bird was a major coup but his salary will prevent any other key player from making the move of a thousand kms north.

Tune in for the England vs Lebanon game this weekend. A man by the name of Alex Walmsley. Broncos have been mentioned on several occasions with him.

Wayne dropping him for the previous game can't have helped our chances though.
