1 backup isn't really enough we should have a few options. Murphy and Scarlett are a waste of time if therw not even considered ahead of McGuire

in the world of the salary cap, clubs can't afford to carry 3 NRL quality hookers ...

and even if they could, what NRL quality player is going to want to sign, knowing they have virtually no chance of playing in the top grade

I thought Murphy was being converted to a hooker, playing all the trials if I remember correctly... have they given up on that??

Never said nrl quality or hooker ! But surely there is a better option than carrying 2 halves that will never get a look in . Yes we have turpin and dargan but we could have another option with the money Scarlett and Murphy are on.

I actually think that's a pretty good side considering our injuries. It will interesting to see how sua goes starting. I've been impressed with him when he has gotten a go.
I think persisting with bird at half is also wise. He needs to be able to adjust into the halves role and anyone can have a bad game when learning a new role. Hopefully he understands how he erred last week and corrects himself.
As for maguire starting hooker, he has played internationals in the role so he should be well up to it. True his running game might lack some finnesse, but I think he is a good reader of the game and will handle 20 minutes easily (probably more if he has to).
Our front rowers will need to step up, tagatese should be up for it. If he shines, Sims might be in for some Qld cup time. I guess we'll see. Hopefully they both feed off each other.
I just hope we have worked on our defence on Roberts side. He and isaako can't let that happen again.

Well we gave up on everything else we worked on in the trials, so why not that too?

Why couldn't Bennett just name Milford at halfback?

That's the role he is going to be playing. It would have been great for SVRL purposes.

Wonder if Bird could move into more of a halfback role and let Milf roam around?
You could say that they are similar style footballers, but we look to be trying to turn Milf into a halfback at the moment... maybe Bird could be better suited to the role or change his game easier than Milf?

hold your enthusiasm ... Crawley reckons Haas could be handed his debut ... Tagas could be the one to make way (although, if he does make his debut, i really hope Sims is the one who goes)

Cream always rises to the top!

PS. I have no idea what that analogy means I just wanted to jump on the Tagga hype train with you.

Tagatese is far too good IMO to be playing ISC below certain other players.
Doubtless you weren't around when milk always had cream on the top. To this day I still unconsciously shake the milk container before pouring some in my coffee !

We need to start blooding some young guys , you don’t know of Lodge will stay , so it would be worth blooding Haas, Carrigan , Fledger for a few games each
