What the hell are the Broncos board playing at?

This kind of press is BAD for players and fans.

Perpetually.

A confusing situation, i relly hope it isn't true.

It is a Badel story so, grain of salt. Plenty of “it is understood” and “it can be revealed” in there.

As one of those questioning if Bennett still had it earlier in the year, he is really starting to make me eat my words (is that a surprise though, he has always had a knack of proving people wrong over the years). I must add though, I’m more than happy to be wrong if it means we’re successful!

But if you take sentiment out of it, he is getting close to 70 so we simply have to start making plans for the future. When that future is, I don’t know. What the plans are, I don’t know. I’m just glad I don’t have to have those conversations and make those decisions.

All that said, it would be ridiculous to make any movements whatsoever until after the dust of season 2018 has settled. I truly believe we are still a solid chance of going all the way this year, but even if we don’t, we really are building a formidable squad.

Nothing in this world is ‘fair’, but I think it’s only right that Bennett at least gets to work with the great squad he is almost single-handedly building.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Option 1: Broncos going bad: Bennett has lost the locker room and the faith of the club bosses. The stubborn old mule won't move on and is digging in his heels. After personally overseeing the development and retention of the best young forwards in the game, sacking Bennett may put in jeopardy all of those contracts as those players signed to play for Bennett. Broncos in crisis.

Option 2: Broncos doing well: The Broncos board are contemplating the insane decision to not renew Bennett's contract after masterminding the rise of the game's best young forwards and setting the Broncos up for a massive premiership window over the next 5-8 seasons. Bennett rightly not happy in being put out to pasture. Broncos in crisis.

All you need now is some "experts", like Tallis and Kent, to tell everyone how dire the situation is, and there is a ready-made rhetoric after every game, win or lose, why the Broncos are in crisis.

All of a sudden, the talks and negotiations that should be behind closed doors, are now aired through the media, just like the Bellamy situation, and the Broncos come out stinking to high heavens.

Certain players, despite what comes out in the press, are at the Broncos because they want to play for Bennett. Without him here, there could well be a few who wont want to stay.

My faith in Paul White has been steadily dwindling.

Me too I’m afraid. He didn’t cover himself with glory if he really did have a crack at Bellamy.

Went and had a meeting with him, with no contract and no genuine offer...

Can he learn nothing from Uncle Nick? You turn up WITH a contract AND a stonkingly huge bag of cash! Sign right now. This is all yours! The team is all yours! No Bennett looking over your shoulder, nothing! Except massive wads of cash and all the resources as an NRL coach you could ever want.

Then maybe you get your man. Instead what you achieved was time for Melbourne to take the Uncle Nick approach instead, and the rest is history...

Kent said Bellamy was a better coach than Wayne. What metric is he using? Bellamy has coached on club to two real premierships. Has won no Origin series and never coached Australia. Wayne has coached 3 NRL clubs has 7 actual premierships, has won a origin series, coached Australia, was assistan coach to NZ when they won a world cup and is currently Englands coach and has put them at number 2 in the world. Wayne is by any metric the best coach the game has ever had and if Kent had a brain in his head he would be fighting for coaches to have immortal statis and for Wayne to be the first inductee.

Dumb to let Wayne walk unless we had Bellamy signed, and even that was 50/50 (Wayne is a better coach, but age is on Bellamy’s side and he has hype behind him). Seibold appears to be a good coach, but this is his first year and the Rabbits don’t exactly have a crap squad. JD could easily be superior, and he’s done his time here in Brisbane and knows the squad for when Bennett is ready to hand over the reigns.

I could understand feeling out Seibold if Wayne wanted to retire, but in my mind he’s still the best coach in the comp. Just look at the side he’s building FFS.

I would agree, but the NRL won’t. If such a position becomes available they will give it to Jack Gibson I suspect...

Is the Board out their mind? At last we started to hear some positives regarding the player's committing to the club under moderate pay scale & things starting to get positive. The brand & value of Broncos is starting to soar again. But, the stupid Board have to come up with some negative news around the Coach at the crucial time? They are self destructive to say the least. Can't they see the fact that all these players recommitting to the club just to get coached by the Master Coach? They could've opted to chase the $'s being thrown by other clubs and get coached by some random coach but, they didn't do that.

This is not the time to come out with your stupid decisions Board members. You could've waited until seasons end. Now go after another Green & Bellamy and get rejected by them too in extending with their respective clubs. You have become a laughing stock.
