What's the actual issue with the timing of the comment? What do people think is going to happen as a result of the comment?

Thaiday said a very similar thing before the GF and it had no affect.

Nothing is going to 'happen' except a lot of Broncos fans being left with a bad taste. His last game at Suncorp should be promoted as such: "300 game Broncos legend...and life long COWBOYS fan, Sam Thaiday!".

Just to be objective.

Not enough to stop him from being a fan of our arch rivals though...
Seriously why is this an issue to you? He has been a great player for our club over many years. That he has some affection for the cowboys and north Queensland means nothing.
He hasn't bagged anyone (unlike some others) and has been great advocate for our club.
His form against the Bulldogs was ordinary but he was hardly alone there. I think he has been solid this year on the whole and until the dogs was in a purple patch of form for a few games. Whilst that game was disappointing, I think he will bounce back.
The biggest problem with the dogs was lack of grunt in our tackles and a failure to prevent quick play the balls. It gave their halves the perfect platform and made some journeyman players look really good.
Correct that, learn to be patient in attack, and we win pretty easily against the cowboys. Then whatever thaiday has said will be seen in the context it is meant.

So…. from what I’ve learned, read, listened to and watched on this forum I have to agree with Wayne Bennett who has no idea why our team did what it did on Thursday night and I too have as such no idea how to fix it.
Not a good look.
Our (forum) has offered collectively all manner of reasoning for our current dilemma casting the blame on all things from referees, players attitude, coaching staff, the bunker, batting the ball back from short kick offs and even the players being on the piss.
So I started to wonder about our clubs football administration in regard to operations and such. What are these people doing given the coaching staff are at a loss. Surely they will have an input to save our soles. But alas not a word. We do have a manager of football operations you know. A bit like Peter Parr from the Cows but unlike him don’t seem to get involved much. We need somebody in control or somebody to be put in control to keep the teams mind on the job, feet on the ground and full steam ahead at all times.
As long time supporters nothing less is acceptable. Go the Broncs!

Someone post a link to the article please.

I'd prefer to read the quotes personally and even then, I'd be suspicious. How often do we, here, slam the media for the content of what they report? Accusing them of leading questions etc.....but what has been reported here is taken as gospel? I have no doubt that the Cowboys hold a place in Sam's heart, all things considered, but I'd much rather hear his quotes in context before I decide that he's a Cowboy loving POS and completely write off everything he has done for this fucking club and the Jersey.

I couldn't give a **** about quotes, I'm only interested in actual audio of both the question and the response.

Its a huge over-reaction. Who cares who he supports? As long as he is committed to us, thats all that matters, and he has been, no question about it. He was bought up in Townsville and he is a Cowboys fan. If he lied about it and said he was always a Broncos fan some of you lot would be giving him pelters for being a liar as well. He's never said he is dropping Broncos like a gun or anything of the sort. He gave an honest answer to the question he was asked.

Committed until the money stops. Sounds great, I love it when the monkeys on LU are bigger fans of the club than the players.

He isn't going to a Broncos player next year, so who cares?

He is committed right now.

People blowing this up a bit too much.. Most likely because it's Sam Thaiday.

Stop putting words in people’s mouths. It’s not because it’s Sam Thaiday. Up until yesterday morning I was one of his biggest fans so don’t turn this into some agenda bullshit. I expect players that have made a career off this club, played 299 games and been a captain of it to be a fan of that club, not our rival. Soz.

Like i said before, do you really think every Broncos player is a Broncos supporter? You are absolutely deluded if you think they all.

And i'm really not sure how much more committed you want the bloke to be to the Broncos. He is on the verge of playing 300 games for us, and has always been a great club man. How much more commitment do you want from a bloke who isnt even from Brissy? The bloke makes one comment about how he is a Cowboys fan, and he gets turned on. Absolutely Laughable. I'm surprised the lynch mob isnt turning on Roberts for not being a Queenslander.

Amazing. You are having a go at people for ‘laughable’ comments then you drop that Roberts line. Origin has nothing to do with club footy so that is pretty laughable in itself.

FFS, the author of this click bait got exactly what they wanted (even if you assume they included every word Thaiday said, in the article) ... and that is a MASSIVE OVER-REACTION ...

people are acting like he called a press conference for the specific purpose of saying "**** the Broncos, i'm a Cowboys supporter"

you can't tell me that every player who plays for Melbourne or the Rabbitohs or the Rooster supported those clubs growing up ... hell, let's go bigger and include the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd etc.

these players are professional sportsmen. and Thaiday has been extremely loyal and dedicated to this club, even staying despite much bigger offers to play elsewhere.

I'm sure if any of the whingers were rugby league players, that ended up playing for say the Roosters, they would never support the Broncos again, even after their career was over. but you can't expect that of everyone.

How many articles like this have you seen from other players?

Cowboys might be a little bit flat after last nights great comeback against the Roosters.

I'm hoping anyway.

Well at least no matter what happens next game Sam will be happy. Win win!

He must have been real confused in the 2015 grand final.

“Cmon guys why are you so down, we won!”

“No we didn’t, Sam, the Cowboys did.”

“That’s my point”

Back to one of our real problems.....hooker

Unlikely that we will drop Macca, so at minimum I think we need a KNik or a Turpin on the bench

Macca can do the defensive load maybe for the first half or so of each half, and a livewire 9 can come on and add some spark against hopefully tiring forwards

But then again, maybe it's a shit idea, and you're all very glad I'm not the coach :)

I think it is a great idea.

But sadly, what we think doesn't really matter does it ?

It's 1 of the reasons we were so good in 2015. We had Niko and at times during the season Parcell coming on to add some spark. How many times did Niko come into a game and score a try or set 1 up within minutes. It's an extra gear that we don't have now.

Seems like the Thaiday issue is pretty black and white for some, so I'd like to hear Unbreakable's take...
