Someone post a link to the article please.

I'd prefer to read the quotes personally and even then, I'd be suspicious. How often do we, here, slam the media for the content of what they report? Accusing them of leading questions etc.....but what has been reported here is taken as gospel? I have no doubt that the Cowboys hold a place in Sam's heart, all things considered, but I'd much rather hear his quotes in context before I decide that he's a Cowboy loving POS and completely write off everything he has done for this fucking club and the Jersey.

Nothing can write off everything he has done for the club - same with Tallis, but assuming the quotes from the article are accurate "I'll support the Cows when I finish up playing" - he's going in the Tallis pile. Like a lot of things Sam has said during his career, unnecessary and very badly timed.

If he fucking kills the Cows this week, I'll let him off the hook though.

It's 1 of the reasons we were so good in 2015. We had Niko and at times during the season Parcell coming on to add some spark. How many times did Niko come into a game and score a try or set 1 up within minutes. It's an extra gear that we don't have now.

I reckon give staggs a go there, if he's on the bench, towards the end of the 1st half or whenever opposition forwards start getting lazy. Macca needs that break because once he tackles himself to exhaustion he's just too slow. One of the tries against the bulldogs happened because joffa got to dummy half first. Macca was like jogging 5 metres behind the play.

If it’s a battle of hookers I’m glad we’ve got Macca over Granville, he was shocking last night.

Yep. Just on Granville, for mine this is Cook in a few years. I’m not taking anything away from Cook and if I could have him in my side right now I would for sure, but once he loses his speed he will be cooked (pun intended) just like Granville is.

Back to one of our real problems.....hooker

Unlikely that we will drop Macca, so at minimum I think we need a KNik or a Turpin on the bench

Macca can do the defensive load maybe for the first half or so of each half, and a livewire 9 can come on and add some spark against hopefully tiring forwards

But then again, maybe it's a shit idea, and you're all very glad I'm not the coach :)

IMO we have a halfback problem, not a hooker problem. Get a proper halfback and all this team’s problems go away. Milford can be Milford, Niko can go back to his best position as bench hooker to provide the spark we had in 2015 against tired forwards and Macca can take the early brunt without tackling himself into exhaustion.

People are honestly blocking out that a lot of the entertaining things he does happens after a Burgess brother knocks over the markers by falling over on top of them. This shit wouldn't work at the Broncos as they'd be penalized for interference. He is playing great but he has so many other things that are giving him an advantage at the moment.

Amazing. You are having a go at people for ‘laughable’ comments then you drop that Roberts line. Origin has nothing to do with club footy so that is pretty laughable in itself.

I think you are missing the point. Not everyone who is at the Broncos has to support the Broncos.

Dear oh dear oh dear! I've never foreseen in my wildest dream that 1 day, I would cheer for Manly & Canberra to win.

Trying hard to console myself that I am only want them to win as it would favor us. We didn't perform this week Manly & Canberra but, that shouldn't stop you guys in winning today. :risas3:

I think you're missing the point. They obviously don't have to have supported the club in the past, but the week after getting flogged by a shit team and the week before playing the Cowboys, I'd rather the players don't come out and say they will be supporting them next year. It doesn't sit well with me. I just wish all of our players would give the media who have spent the year attempting to derail us absolutely nothing.

If losing to Warriors by 20 points didn't convince you the season is all but over, and getting 36 points put on us by spoon contenders didn't convince you. Losing to Cowboys should almost certainly sign, seal and deliver our obituary.

p.s **** you thaiday, we carried you one or two years longer than we should have.

This. It was the same thing when Luke played for them. Cook is undoubtably nippier than McCullough but the former is benefitting from a family of Burgii who are up for contract renewal, and the same dodgy tactics that gave them an illegal advantage in 2014.

A crab with no claws is nippier than McCullough.

I love conspiracy theories! How about this one: Bennett only picks guys like Thaiday, McGuire and Glenn at hooker so McCullough looks like a "star" at hooker.

Manly did us a favour. Hopefully the raiders beat Penrith and we are still a chance of top 4 with dragons loosing this weekend too!

FFS, the author of this click bait got exactly what they wanted (even if you assume they included every word Thaiday said, in the article) ... and that is a MASSIVE OVER-REACTION ...

people are acting like he called a press conference for the specific purpose of saying "**** the Broncos, i'm a Cowboys supporter"

you can't tell me that every player who plays for Melbourne or the Rabbitohs or the Rooster supported those clubs growing up ... hell, let's go bigger and include the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd etc.

these players are professional sportsmen. and Thaiday has been extremely loyal and dedicated to this club, even staying despite much bigger offers to play elsewhere.

I'm sure if any of the whingers were rugby league players, that ended up playing for say the Roosters, they would never support the Broncos again, even after their career was over. but you can't expect that of everyone.

This post is a very dishonest addition the discussion and I expected a more rational reply from a member of staff.

No one said anything to imply it was like he called a press conference and said **** the broncos. The frustration is at our current most capped player, and at times captain doesn’t see our club as the team that he supports. I find that disheartening to hear as a fan of the club. I also find it hard to believe that even if he were a fan of the cowboys because of where he was born that after everything this club has done for him and all that he’s achieved that he still “supports the cowboys” and will continue to do so.

There’s no way Cam Smith would come out and say that he supports another club and will cheer for them when he retires. He didn’t grow up in Melbourne.

But fair enough, even if 300 games, 15 years, and millions of dollars isn’t enough for the broncos to be the club you support, at least have the tact to not mention it, especially when it’s the team that provided the most painful moment in our teams history, especially the week before we play them.

I remember when Wallace was talking about the broncos still being his favourite club, and then there was a video of him singing our team song when we won. My reaction then was “if I were a titans supporter, I would not want that guy in my team after that”.

Lastly, do you see a difference between journey men players having a preferred team and a guy who played 300 games for one club since a teenager? Yeah, I guess I’m a whinger and if roosters gave me a shot and i played 300 games for them for over a decade, never putting on another teams jersey...yeah, sorry but i would be a roosters fan.

Some really weird little butt hurt groms in here. Of course players support clubs other than the one they play for. Do you think Mitchell Pearce is a Knights supporter now? Geez. Disillusioned much? People grow up in families as kids going to games wearing the colours or come from small towns where their team represents. Then they grow up and get a job “working for the Broncos”. It is ridiculous to expect them turn their coat on their family and towns team just because they got a career opportunity elsewhere. Respect for Sammy for a monumentous career playing for his second favourite club. Stop being little whingers everyone who feels they have the right to judge the players on their personal preferences. Shame on you.
