But we still tried to score points and almost did?
Doesn't necessarily mean a message wasn't sent out.
The players could have just chose to ignore it.

But we still tried to score points and almost did?
just because the average punter doesn't know the reason, doesn't mean there wasn't a very good reason.
Bennett would have had a plan for Bird, before he was even offered a deal ... but his injuries derailed that plan
How would they possibly know for sure if a message was sent out ? Sounds more like another media bullshit story to me.Andrew Webster is claiming Bennett sent out a message during the Manly game to stop scoring points so we wouldn't end up in 5th.
I always thought the Warriors would have been better for us.
I'm sure he sent the message out on Sunday several times to fu**** tackle and lock up the ball but they seemed to have ignored that too.Andrew Webster is claiming Bennett sent out a message during the Manly game to stop scoring points so we wouldn't end up in 5th.

Now that I've had some time to stew on it...
Whoever our defensive coach is, sack his ass.
are you sure we even had a defensive coach
Isn't it Bennett? JD looks after the offence and WB does the D...?Now that I've had some time to stew on it...

In retrospect I would've preferred we not made the finals at all. It sends a stronger message to the players than a week one bow out.
Heroes to zeros.....in the blink of an eye.
Who else deserved to be there in front of us? Fucken oath we deserved to be there.
I,m not talking about the side that played Manly but the side that played St George would not have beaten any other side in the comp with what they served up last Sunday. Bennetts flair and reputation for preparing final teams has taken a huge hit and one from which I doubt he will recover. By that I mean other teams that were considering taking a punt may well now reconsider. But back to the football, I was at both games and to see the Red V defence rushing up, wave after wave, knocking us over on our side of the ad line time after time and in return our defence waiting and getting hammered where they stood was very disconcerting. Dragons appeared to be able to score at will and they did.We didn't lose because we were playing the Dragons, we lost because we played fucking terrible footy.
Warriors or Dragons... it wouldn't have made a difference - we didn't turn up at all.
Honestly, I didn't think we were going to win. With all the build up of negative comments about the Dragons I knew they would turn up with something to prove. But I thought it would be close. Bennett teams are all about finals footy, and I was surprised that he didn't have them up for this at all.I,m not talking about the side that played Manly but the side that played St George would not have beaten any other side in the comp with what they served up last Sunday. Year after year the sides going into the finals with the best hard hitting defence are the ones that seem make it through.
To say Wayne has lost his touch is not out of the question and must be considered under the circumstances, IMHO.
But surely whoever it was that replaced him would adopt his successful methods ?We also miss Alex Corvo.
