Gee wiz boys dont know what to say.

That was bad, wouldn’t have wished that on any supporter (even the fuckwits). Genuinely have sympathy for the Broncs fans, especially those that went to the game. Dragons weren’t that good at all.

Hopefully might be the catalyst for some positive change in the off season.

All the best.

See you guys next year.
I look on the bright side. After next week when the Dragons get smashed, the record books will have us finishing sixth and the Dragons seventh so there is that, I suppose.

I have spent the last 14 hours trying to stop myself getting on here and ranting a load of negative comments about my footy team the mighty Broncos. Last night and this morning I have tried yoga, meditation, anger management on youtube, even tempted to dust off the whisky bottle... but after finally realising that my blood pressure was 220 over 110, I came to the conclusion that instead of ranting I would say a big "THANK YOU'' to the Broncos team, coaching and management.

Thank you - for overpaying for a dud bird and keeping it warm, paying for its medical bills and nursing it till it was fit enough to go play with the sharks again.
Thank you - for taking a very sneaky (but limited) little bench utility and making him our general, calling the plays, positioning the forwards, kicking the ball and making gaps for our star 5/8 to do his magic. not
Thank you - for making a pretty good winger (and favorite son) into our Captain where he could show his ability to bring the lads together as a strong cohesive unit ready to take on the world with confidence and enthusiasm. not
Thank you - for selling off some of our best young prospects, at the expence of some tired old farts, to make other teams better (and I dont mean Hunt).
Thank you - for keeping old tired forwards and paying them heaps to just go around for a couple more seasons cos they make us laugh.
Thank you - for keeping a great hooker who makes 50 tackles each game but has no energy left and no idea how to plan attacking plays and fast ball feeds.
Thank you - for a team who are so consistant that we (the supporters) never know which team version will turn up on the day.
Thank you - for making a very talented young man play 5/8, halback, kicker, planner and orginiser instead of giving him room to tear up tired forwards with his snappy ducking, weaving and sidestepping to set up or score our tries.
Thank you - for the managements total support of our coach and half way through the season letting him know he is getting dumped.
Thank you - to the team for beating the top sides with gritty, hard commited play and rolling over with legs in the air like bloddy soft shelled cockroaches and getting smashed by bottomdwellers with more guts and enthusiasm.
Thank you - for showing enough to keep me believing we could go somewhere in the finals only to reveal we are pretenders not contenders.
Thank you - for keeping your worst game till your last game and insulting all your fans by letting the shitty Dragons with stinky Hunt smash us into a totally embarrasing DEFEAT..... going out with a whimper instead of a spirited BANG.

And Finally a REAL THANK YOU to all the amazing fans and supporters who have suffered like me watching our much loved team stumble and stutter through this season and for the most part never losing faith that we will come good. Thank you to the young players that have come into the side and shown the 'senior' players how its done bringing spirit and enthusiasm to the team dynamic when given a go.

I will leave the forum now till next year (health permitting) and look forward to 2019 with hopefully a real halfback, some tough uncomprimising forwards, a new Captain, a gun fullback, fast slick centres, big wingers and a revitilised bench.

I think that will say it all from me for now and I feel much better.

Cheers for now and I hope you all have a happy healthy off season.
H

My brother in law had Fafita as first try scorer at $115. Not bad for a tenner's outlay!

His name wouldn't happen to be Tim would it? Cheeky fucker I know had the same bet.

It's easy to forget that this was really a building year because of the wins against most of the top 4 sides.
Next year and more than likely 2020 are our best chances.
It's disappointing to go out like that from my POV because it was a great learning opportunity for our younger guys.
It reaffirms how important it is to finish top 4.

Saints had a whole week of people telling them they were shit which always fires up even ordinary sides. Bennett would have loved that build up for our guys.

Next year we get Gillett back, a fit Bird and a young squad with another year in under the belt .
Hopefully macca can be eased out for Turpin.
Put away the razor blades people we will be in it up to our ears next year.

Yep agreed, people are also forgetting few to none of the ‘experts’ even had us in the top 8 this year and we spent 2/3rds of the season in the top 8, finished 6th and earned a home final.

Yesterday was disappointing as hell, but more than half the comp still dreams of having the year we just had...

Looking forward to the returns on the investment we have made in our young players next year and in the years to come.

Most experts had the Broncos in the 5-8 corridor, there were only a couple (Sterlo and MG perhaps) that tipped them to finish 9th or lower. The future does appear to be bright but one can never tell in this great game. The premiership was supposedly good as ours in 2016 but didn't eventuate. The Broncos will always be in the running but going that extra step may not occur for 4-5 years yet or it could happen next year, the unpredictability of this sport is what makes it so mouth watering.

True I’m not saying we are specials, our spine, IMHO still won’t be top tier in the comp and no-one wins a comp without a great spine.

If money was no option Milford is the only player in our spine I would keep. To have a truly top tier spine we need new top quality fullback, halfback and hooker...

So only three out of four need to be entirely replaced from the squad... But they won’t be so we will need to do things differently, so I would start with a complete overhaul of our non-existant defence...

yeah we are all hurting, and emotion runs high

But to the people still whinging about getting no value for Bird because he was injured the whole year, just give it a rest

The Broncos can be blamed for a lot of things, but signing a player that turned out to be far more injured than what was first thought isn't one of them

Unless didn’t do due diligence. But that aside the issue wasn’t his missed injury it was he was signed for no good reason then backfired. You pay big $ u need to have a reason or have it pay off big time. Ours was he looks like a good footballer so why not.... who needs a half or hooker when u have a guy who might play lock but never really has....

Also a sin for him to be from NSW and still have friends in NSW...

I blame them for climate change.

And JFK.

just because the average punter doesn't know the reason, doesn't mean there wasn't a very good reason.

Bennett would have had a plan for Bird, before he was even offered a deal ... but his injuries derailed that plan

Andrew Webster is claiming Bennett sent out a message during the Manly game to stop scoring points so we wouldn't end up in 5th.

I always thought the Warriors would have been better for us.

If true, hindsight is wonderful, but what a spectacular failure in the end.

But we still tried to score points and almost did?

We didn't lose because we were playing the Dragons, we lost because we played fucking terrible footy.

Warriors or Dragons... it wouldn't have made a difference - we didn't turn up at all.

I blame the Sharks. I blame the Sharks for a lot of things. It feels good.
