2019 Broncos Line-up

Check out the video on facebook that the locker room just shared. It shows the extras Glenn has been doing to improve his explosiveness and agility as he wants to keep his #11 jersey. It's great that he knows he is under alot of pressure from the young guys and he is doing everything he can to improve. He really is in the right mindset to have his best season to date. I don't think we will see the comfortable Alex Glenn of the past anymore.

Tbf, i think Glenn has always been the ultimate professional.

He has stated before he has gotten a bit too comfortable and has been bad with take away food. I was moreso referring to that.

This is an incredibly important and competitive preseason. There’s going to be some very good players not make it into first grade unless we get injuries.

I vaugley remember his saying he was having take away food once a day about 4-5 years ago. Don't think it's ever affected his training though, he has always been a great role model.

I believe Seibold was getting Crichton to do a lot of hard work in the middle while he was playing edge back row. If Seibold wants the same thing at the Broncos then I could see him possibly using Tevita in the same way. Would allow us to sure up our middle defensively with both Macca and Fensom in there doing the tackling.

1. Darius Boyd
2. Corey Oates
3. Jack Bird
4. James Roberts
5. Jamayne Isaako
6. Anthony Milford
7. Kodi Nikorima
8. Matthew Lodge
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Joe Ofahengaue
11. Tevita Pangai Junior
12. Matt Gillett
13. Shaun Fensom

14. Alex Glenn
15. Jaydn Su'a
16. Payne Haas
17. David Fifita

18. Kotoni Staggs
19. Sam Tagataese
20. Richie Kennar
21. Jordan Kahu
22. Patrick Mago
23. Sean O'Sullivan

What a list we've got going.. Gotta wonder if there will be any more early releases from contracts

There's no way seibold has 3 second rowers on the bench, and then to compound that the 1 prop on the bench has played 60 minutes of nrl in total ever... Sua, Glenn and fifita all deserve to be in the 17 but a tough call will need to be made on 1 I believe. As amazing as fifita is I think asking him to play 24-27 games as an 18 year old forward may be enough to see him be the odd man out for this year. He will still play around 15 matches due to injury or form but he needs the odd full 80 minutes in the QLD Cup.

Yeah the bench is up for whatever combination Seibs wants. I agree with you. Just would change it up as the season goes, it's a luxury

I also remember reading something / watching a video around the time this came out and vividly remember Glenn saying something along the lines of: his diet was slowing him down and now that he’d stopped eating junk food all the time, he felt much better and had an extra spring in his step.
Obviously that’s not verbatim, but thereabouts.

I dont think we are going to see much of Staggs tbh and i really cant see us wasting TPJ in the backrow with our depth in that position. I still think our front row rotation should be Lodge and Offa starting, TPJ and either Haas or Carrigan from the bench. Real impact from the bench is vital. In regards to the bench, for me it should be 2 front rowers, a back rower and an impact hooker. I think however we could well see another forward and no hooker. I'd actually have no issues in having Staggs there as a utility as i still believe he is a back rower, but i'm not sure we will go that way.

Who would start at lock?

Who would start at lock?

Buggered if i know!

I'm not sure how Seibs will play tbh. TPJ wouldnt surprise me, but i think seeing as he played Sam Burgess there at Souths i'd say he would want somebody with a bigger motor. Now you have made me think about it a little more, i'd actually say Offa would probably be our best option ( unless Seibs plays differently to how he had Souths ). Probably then replace Offa at prop with Tagatese or Mago ( i'd actually have no worries in putting in Carrigan, but i dont think we will ).

Dont think we will risk Bird at lock yet, but still think if he has a good pre season then Savelio could be a dark horse for lock. He has the skills to play there.

Based off @Wolfie team above, whilst I never thought Bird would be lock with McGuire in the team, with McGuire gone now (I’ll miss him), I think it makes perfect sense to play Bird at lock. He gets more ball (like he wants) and it frees up the opportunity to have either Kahu or Staggs at centre.

I am OK with either option at centre too, as I just feel Kahu will either be left centre or reserve grade, and he is too good for reserve grade.

I must say in a bit bummed that bird is playing centre. I think him at lock makes our team look more solid.

Personally I think this could be best bet for the forwards.
8. Offa
9. Macca
10. Lodge
11. Gillett
12. Sua
13. Glenn (or swap with Gillett)
Bench: TPJ, Haas, Fifita, Staggs.

I think that gives us more freedom having tpj and Haas as replacement front rowers. The alternate to this would be TPJ goes to lock with Glenn second row and Sua to bench. Staggs drops out with tagatese to come on bench. Or fensom to 13, Glenn to second row with sua taking staggs place on bench.

Bird needs game time and he needs to make sure his body will hold up and i think its probably way too risky to put him directly in the front line at lock just now. Centre just make sense for now.

I like Offa at lock and Bird at centre. I would have Staggs on the bench and bring him on at centre and move Bird to lock when Offa comes off. Bird could cause havoc against tired defences late in the game.
