Did I hit close to home on that 7XL comment? You need to chill out, dude. I'm a Bennett fanboy and you're a Seibs one. Surely we can meet somewhere in the middle.

nah I don't care about fat jokes,I make them all the time. I am fat.not 7XL fat but I could stand to lose a few kilos. That's why it's ok for me to make jokes about our players being fat. Like Thaiday and Milford.

I personally am starting to think the 1 game suspension to segeyaro was sort of calculated. The call came quite late, most likely after they knew macca would be fit. This way Seibold can pick macca without any backlash at all, because he said all along, Turpin isn't an 80 minute hooker just yet. This way he can pick Macca, if he plays well he stays, if he doesn't then he goes "we needed to pick macca because segey was suspended".

i think we need to see if the sudden depth at 9 fires up Macca....who knows...but I think the club owes Macca a chance to demonstrate if he can give us similar service that Seggy and Turps have done...

If not, then what complaints can there be form the Macca camp if we decide to part ways end of season..?

also, anyone else seen the stats column on NRL.com.au?

Glenn & Gillett rated 1st and 2nd for ineffective tackles..

Reckon that's the consequence of our poor start; I'm expect to see those numbers reduce going forwards...

Also noticed Joe Stimson signed with the bulldogs for next year; rare to see Melbourne lose one of their young guns like that...bet its for big money...

Yeah would likely be due to the poor start, we have also versed all of the best teams in the comp, and ones that have very potent edges and teams that like to offload etc.

From memory a lot of Gillett's ineffective tackles were while Nikorima was there. Nikorima definitely impacted in a lot of Gillett's decision making. Similar for Glenn, he is on Milfords side which is heavily targeted, particularly at the start of the year.

I don't expect them to be at the top by the end of the season. Neither feature in the top 25 for missed tackles.

Worryingly, Jack bird was up there with 28 which is pretty bad considering he hasnt played as many games.

quite right...the proof is/was in the pudding. Niko being so heavily targeted really messed with the whole defence on that side of the field...hence the poor defensive stats everyone was getting. Would have been good to have Bird there cause im sure those stats would have improved...nonetheless I don't expect Glenn and Gillett to be top for ineffective tackles come seasons end...

Sure, at the end of the season but just as long as he only gets one or two games to show that he's upped his game and can match the improvement most of us( including ex players, commentators and better results) can see and read about after. Otherwise we simply don't need more mediocrity. I know he's capable or at least I believe he's capable of better but he seems to me to be the reserved personality type who just won't back himself and embrace his failures along with his successes. He needs to put it on the line, everything he's got. I just don't think he has ever done that.

I'm pretty confident Seibold won't allow that to happen...

It does not surprise me Gillett is one of those players.

It wasn't due to the poor start. There is a reason for it, and it's because Gillett has a knack of shooting out of the line to disrupt the opposition attack.

Gillett hasn't had a great deal of success hitting and sticking but the point of doing what he does is to disrupt the opposition attack on that side. Sometimes it works, sometimes it leaves us exposed but I think if you were to go through each one, the result would be it works more than it doesn't.

The ineffective tackle stat is a bit misleading. In a way, it is an effective tackle.

He's named at 14 but it doesn't mean he will be the sub. I think it's a good move and McCullough must be ready and he must go hard. The coach will want to see a new more energetic McCullough because he owes him nothing and he knows what he expects from his hookers.

This means we're going to have Macca on the field in the final 20 minutes of the game. I don't like it.

We should have a healthy lead though. My biggest concern is that it's close and he tries doing stuff he's not capable of in an attempt to win his spot back.

I thought Perese had his best game against the Hunters. Impressive running at the gap for his try. No way he scores that 10 weeks ago.

He still breaks tackles like no man's business but now he is becoming league smart and getting more involved and set up a nice try with a freaky pass and again more game aware.
