Mate they’ve shedded Moose, Kniko, Kahu, Roberts, and Sims. He inherited 3 busted seniors on over priced and far too long contracts, and has the 800k Bird sitting on the sidelines. He hasn’t had an opportunity to make a single signing that wasn’t solely for depth, and every time he looks to be selecting a team resembling one he wants it get some plagued by injury and is forced to re-shuffle.
On top of that we have 0 established halves at the club. You could blame him for shafting Kniko too early but we almost all agreed he wasn’t a half either and he is stinking it up at the warriors.
I’ve seen and heard plenty of things that show Seibold has good ideas. But he’s been extremely shackled due to roster, suspensions and injuries. If you think there hasn’t been any positive signs this year, you’re kidding yourself. To me this season is about Seibold and the board making hard but necessary cuts, getting our cap in order, growing our youth, and getting the best result considering the circumstances. I don’t expect much. A 8-10th place finish to me is a pass mark.
For me Seibold’s real judgement will be based on how he handles his first uninterrupted off season, his off season recruitment and roster decisions, and then ultimately how we perform next year. If he misses the finals in 2020, cut him for sure.
