What would his role be? He is struggling I think with that role at Dolphins and looks unsure.
Put him at 7 or 6 , boyd can cover the backs and Glenn can cover forwards.
I think most people don't like our chances and would rather throw him in for a bit of experience.

Not all experience is good. I'd prefer to keep the squad the same and they can go however far they go until this season's done. No need to heap the pressure of carrying an underperforming side on a young half making his debut in a do or die game without even having a recognised half to help him.

True, what if he leads to us victory ?

...thing about this squad; they really seem like they thoroughly enjoy playing with each other and for this team. This budding culture is going to bear fruit long term. I mean have we lost ANYONE we really wanted to stay this year? That says a lot to me.

Storm and Roosters are the best run clubs off the field, well Broncos should be at least the third. And the gap between those 3 and everyone else is enormous. We need to really ditch the short term ism goggles and start to look ahead 5 years from now. Judging from what im seeing now, i can totally believe this group will still be here and still wanting to play together...

Kane Evans is out. Not that he's a huge loss.

Why would you use an interchange on a half just for fun?

Seems unnecessary to get a guy five minutes in a position he isn’t even playing in ISC. Be greater benefit playing a final for Dolphins.

It’s one thing to say they have underachieved commensurate with their experience and another to say to you have no pride. They have made the finals for **** sake, regardless, you are allowed to have a little pride in that bit if nothing else. Give them some slack.

If you want to be proud of mediocrity, that's fine. No one is stopping you having pride in this team barely scraping into the 8. But don't expect everyone to get on board that train.

In a position he isn't enjoying ? Cause it's probably the only fun I'd get from this game.

Boyd still training at 5/8 with Milf out the back at 1.

Milf also doing short kicks behind the line.

That 1998 side was the pound for pound greatest of all time in my opinion. Even if we had that team today we’d be causing teams a lot of problems.
To borrow from a quote from Larry Bird:

"I dunno, I think Melbourne would still push them. Most of those guys are in their 40's and 50's now..."

Yeah I know , but would like something positive to come from this game. Would like to be more positive myself but I just can't see a win unfortunately.

yes agreed; this time (1997-1998) represented the height of the Langer-Walters-Bennett triumvirate, they were inarguable the best club rugby league side on Earth for those 2 years, nearly unbeatable against any opposition...

however, they barely got above 20K fans through the gate for games and that included a few semi final games at home too. Brisbane fans voted with their feet those years, showing you cannot take their loyalty for granted regardless of what team you put out there.

Thankfully, nowadays we have great healthy crowds coming to see the team and i think its worth putting that into perspective; most clubs would kill to draw such crowds.

We just need to sort out some positions and players futures with us and the future is looking so bright..!

Couple of things to note about the crowds:

During that era, the Broncos played at ANZ Stadium. Much harder to get to than Lang Park for fans and it was also an athletics oval so the spectator experience wasn't great relative to both the old and new Lang Park so that without question hurt our attendances during that period.

It's also worth noting Brisbane has almost a million additional residents in 2019 than it did in 1999 with a growth rate over that period of almost 40%. That probably puts the crowds in a bit more context too.

Yep, exactly this. I used to drive out that way for work every day, and Granard and Kessels roads leading up to Garden City are probably close to the worst pieces of shit in the whole of South Brisbane.

When did our great club and it's supporters start accepting mediocrity?

When did just scraping into the top 8 become something to be proud of at our club?

When you have had the season we have, with every single opposing fan as well as half of our own fan base saying we won't make the 8. That is in fact an achievement in my eyes.
