NEWS CEO White: Seibold's a tip top coach

It was interesting what Crawley (lol) was saying the other night. His favourite all time player is Locky (always loved Crawley) because of how he commanded respect by being calm, rational, talented, and basically above reproach when compared to Smith who commands respect by being talented, constantly pushing boundaries and looking for unethical advantges whenever possible.
two very successful leaders, two different styles.

I’d say we have neither at the broncos currently.

I don't know, but Trump will be a leadership case study for many generations. I can't think of anyone who's played this game better. I mean, ****, he's run for office once, and it was President. You don't get more alpha than that. But it doesn't seem to be working out. And, it's not because he's stupid - as many insist - or has bad ideas or even lack of vision. It's that organic thing that makes people close to you, follow you because they think it's their own idea.

Trump's undoubted skill is predicated on his wealth, and the consequences of that. Power and control over the means to influence, and also, a connection to about 44% of the USA's rednecks and others driven by self interest and distaste for the common good, where that common good means a reduction in their profits and prestige. So yes, you are right, It is a matter where his success is driven by "that organic thing that makes people close to you, follow you because they think it's their own idea."

I think we do, say in Patty. It just needs to be developed, nurtured and encouraged. Give it time.

As for Lodge, a bit more walking of the talking

This all reminds me of Liverpool football club

there’re ones that try and lead by saying (do this) but then don’t do it themselves, then there are those who (do it) and demand you do it too. I see carrigan as that guy for us going forward.

Sunday Mail interview's CEO Paul White. First question is whether Seibold will be sacked if the Broncos miss the finals:

“That question is nonsensical. We are four games into the restart of the season. There are 14 games to go. To suggest that (sacking Seibold) is nonsense. Now is not the time to be discussing the coach’s future. Now is the time for support. We are united as a club and that includes Anthony.”

“Anthony is the right person for this job. What I will say about Seibs is this - he has a tremendous work ethic and he has a real passion. ’Seibs’ hurts over our performances when our results aren’t up to speed. I like the fact that Anthony does hurt. People have levelled criticism at Seibs over some of his comments in the media but I like his passion and his honesty. Anthony knows he has a long-term commitment with our club and that’s not changing."

“Anthony is getting some scars at the moment and that’s good. I’ve said this to him. Every coach gets wounds along the journey, but the wounds heal and they heal for a reason. Anthony has to cop his medicine now and he will. If you are going to give someone a challenge of building something for the future and we are building that roster, you have to take the noise away. We will do that right now. We are backing Anthony. I know he has the ingredients to be a great coach.”

Wears the boots.

“No, there is no cultural issue. You don’t want your lows to be 59-0, but I am not concerned about our culture. This season (with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic) has been extraordinary for everyone. There’s not much motivation for a CEO if a club is just wins and losses. I want a Broncos club that has integrity around care and respect for people as a primacy for what we do and we do that."

“I’m hurting at the moment. We started the year well with two wins but unfortunately we haven’t recovered well since the competition recommenced. There is not a single person in our club today who wouldn’t disagree with the criticism. We are bleeding. I want the fans and our members to know we care - and that’s why I expect the side to show something against the Titans this week.”

“The talk about our Old Boys is overstated. Yes, some are critical but we are always working with our Old Boys. We just brought Peter Ryan on (as a consultant) and we have five club captains who are employed by the Broncos. Name another NRL club that has five former club captains employed? We care for our Old Boys. I am working as hard as I can to make the club better. They are always welcome.”

Gone, but not forgotten.

“I challenge anyone who wants to criticise our recruitment to write down what our side will look like in 2023. Will our roster be a retirement home? Immediacy isn’t everything. Yes, we have made some decisions to sign two veterans in Ben Te’o and Issac Luke. They are on minimum wage. Te’o is a great pro for our young players and Luke came here for family reasons. This roster will evolve into an experienced one. For every NRL club, the transfer market is fluid."

“If we are doing such a bad job, why do all the other clubs want to poach our players? We do an outstanding job with elite player development. We have a lot of talent in our organisation and playing group. They will get better. You can chart where we will be in three or four years time and that is a mark of good recruitment and retention.”

“I’m not saying hang in until 2023, but what people want to know is that they can turn up to the footy knowing they have a team that will give a level of performance consistently. We are working towards that. Look at the Storm. They built success around Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk and that’s what we want to build here. We are certainly not there yet, I know that, but with the group of young players we have together, I believe we can have success in the future."

“A premiership is the ultimate. It has such a positive impact on many people at a club. I would love it for all the Broncos people who have gone through thick and thin with our club. But you don’t just set a target in place without knowing the steps you have to take to get there. It’s vital our players learn and grow, because you don’t win comps on potential. You win comps on performance. We want to win premierships and I still believe this group will."

“It’s all about the totality of the club and that’s what makes the Broncos great.”

McHunt
White clearly doesn't take criticism well does he?

Sure it's a young group and they might win a premiership one day but rest assured they won't win anything at the Broncos. To suggest the fact that other clubs are poaching our players is a sign of success is delusional, players are poached from all clubs across the competition.

All we ask is that White and Seibold and the club act diligently with player recruitment and retention, so Paul explain to us how our spine is looking at the moment even with injuries? We are a snowflakes chance in hell of winning a chook raffle with Milford (he ran for 9 metres against the Knights). Croft and Turpin are young and have potential but are barely regular first graders, and Isaako is a Milford clone with inconsistency and defensively a liability.

It's obvious the club needed to recruit an experienced playmaker 2 years ago after investing years in Hunt and Nikorima only to favour the big contract Milford and Boyd have sat on our hands since watching the joint unravel around the clubs greatest dud investments.

When the coach refers to Milford as an 'elite' player during the press conference after the Newcastle loss, a game where this player gave a zero, you know there is a deep rooted problem existing and a selection policy based on contract size rather than performance or effort. What's worse is a coach who is influenced by a players reputation an pay packet.

Seibold will gain far more kudos if he makes the tough call to drop Milf and Boyd, even if we continue to lose it will be for the better.

Yeah I see qualities in Patty, but he’s too young - he needs a leader to guide him, Locky didn’t carry the team when he first came to grade - he had Alf, Kev, Tallis to glean from. Not to mention Webcke, Hancock and Thorn around the club. Who does Patty have? Boyd and Glenn. Eek.

Probably shouldn't have brought up Trump because he's so polarizing, but he's clearly a strong candidate at projecting confidence. FWIW, I don't think it's helpful to denigrate a large group of your electorate/followers - which you just touched upon - and it's something his opponents do as a trademark (downward insults like redneck, flyover staters, bible bashers, racists, lowlives, deplorables, etc). That's one of the things he gets right. One of the leadership skills he does have is he pretty much never insults small poppies. That would be like the captain of the Broncos calling us stupid. His opponents could learn from that.

Civo would be ideal to mentor Patty, and mentoring is the key as you say

I'll leave Trump after this. I can't agree with your point about Trump not denigrating. He is an absolute racist and his entire strategy for power is underpinned by polarizing the US community into essentially 2 halves. Guns and white supremacy vs those who would vote for an inclusive society grounded in building the common good.

Trumps complete focus on the private sector while dismantling the already rudimentary US public sector, like their health system is a typical example of his leadership priorities, and their COVID disaster is a sad consequence of that

Anyway, for another thread elsewhere

Could it be that this group of players are mostly unteachable? Just throwing it out there.

Or maybe the teacher can't teach.

I don't see any reason at present to disagree with this BUT I don't think the players should be getting away with such a horrible attitude here. They need to be called out on it. Even Bennett (who has gone soft in his later years) couldn't seem to get these guys going in an upward direction, so maybe they just don't know how to learn. I mean come on, they are clearly a very dumb football team.

Previous teacher couldn't either, at some stage you have to wonder if it is the students especially when the previous teacher is widely regarded as the best in the game.

I am well and truly past that stage whereas Morris and white are the opposite.
If they are wrong we are all headed for a train wreck.

My point, and it's in this context, is he doesn't punch down in the way his opposition does, like you're doing right now with this. You have assigned values to a half an electorate that follows a script rather than reality. If you step back a bit you might see there are two movies on one screen here. Be careful of who's running your projector. The white supremacy angle is quite noxious and divisive. You might re-examine who's driving that. Tip: one side never mentions it, the other never shuts up about it. Ask yourself who is driving this narrative that you're repeating:

But yes, enough about this. It's, as you say, divisive.

62.5% win record, 2nd best to the Storm and we have never received the spoon ever...from one of the most successful clubs in the history of rugby league, we have now become the laughing stock of the NRL.

The season win-loss average has dramatically dropped once the tip-top coach came on board. Biggest ever defeats in the space of 4 games and now precauriously perched on 14th.

White and his board royally fucked this up over the messy coach swap in 2018/19. They will not sack anyone no matter how many games we lose or how demoralising the losses are - they are too stubborn to backtrack on their mistake.
In terms of hope for continued premiership success, maybe the first ever spoon is not such a bad thing for our beloved team.

If they are going to back him to the hilt, as they appear to be doing, we, as fans can only stay the course and hope that what they see in Seibold is actually there. All of our collective bitching and sniping from the sidelines will matter naught whilst he has the backing of Morris and White. I have read more than a few comments by people that have had some interaction with Seibold that rate him as a coach.

I have posted this a couple of times now, but no one is more invested in the Broncos being successful than Seibold. He knows that not only does his current contract depend on it, but also any future significant coaching positions that he might go for. If he royally stuffs this up, then the career he has been building for over 15 years is effectively over.

So I intend to sit back and watch with great interest how this soap opera plays out. My prediction is that he will still be here next year.

Who was the last star player that was dropped? The only one that comes to mind is Hunt but I could be wrong. Seems to me these guys know they aren't going to be dropped and that's a big part of the problem here IMO.

My point exactly, a benchmark and standard needs to be set. Meet it or piss off.
