You are spot on and what I've said a few times about our forwards, but it wasn't just how hard he ran, the play before the try, Cleary takes it to the right and turns a play underneath, then Cleary goes to the left side of the ruck and hits Kikau on the chest with a pass then let him run at the whole for the try. Two plays showed the things Brisbane are lacking, a Half dictating the direction of attack, forwards running hard and running good lines.
Tough on young Dearden to expect him to dictate on both sides of the field. Cleary is the best player in the NRL so not a fair comparison. He will learn and get better. I think the style of Penrith says a lot about coaching too and playing what is in front of you. Almost seems like Seibold tries to orchestrate and throw a bunch of stats at our guys.
In saying that you are 100% correct our forwards don't seem to have any drive and intent when they run the ball. I think this comes down to attitude and energy. Being the ladder leaders and having a real premiership shot would inject that into the team. Sitting in 15th spot knowing your season is over most of our players are just going through the motions.

I quite like the look of this guy, only seen him play twice for Melbourne now but he seems calm and composed. Seems like a pretty handy goalkicker as well, something Staggs doesn't fill me with confidence with just yet.

....Isaako...??.......

Going forward in this thread Paul Green is NOT an option for coach. The only reason he has a premiership is because of the single greatest choke by a professional sports player, else he'd have 2 GF losses and a tonne of not even making the finals.

Again... Paul Green is NOT an option.
You keep posting this , are you ever going to say why.?

I keep reading the knock on Green is he only won because he had a great of the game.
That is a dumb as **** reason.
Name one coach who didnt have talent or a great player or half in exceptional form.
Take a look at the Broncos and WBs record then take out his great player in each GF years and I reckon his record looks very different.
Seibs has talent and cant get them to play. The first thing we need to do is get a coach who can get the group playing then identify who to chop.

A quote from CS9. Kind of sums up our halves and FB situation. I don't remember Croft running at all?

CS9 speaks >>
"That is what halves need to do, they need to run the football, take on the opposition defensive line and ask questions," he said.

"If they are not, then most sides tend to struggle."

2018, 2019, 2020.

If you quit a team mid way though an active season because your team is sucking. That's kind of an instant qualification in my books.

Conveniently you only use the last 3 years of his Cowboys tenure.
Cmon, I could leave out 92 93 97 98 00 06 and 10 and argue Wayne is a shit coach with that logic.
He didnt exactly walk out either.

Paul Green, premiership-winning North Queensland Cowboys coach, axed by club
By Tim Elbra - 3 weeks ago
Coach Paul Green is set to depart the North Queensland Cowboys immediately.

Paul Green has been axed as Cowboys head coach and will depart the role immediately, it was announced on Monday.
Green confirmed his exit the day after North Queensland were beaten 22-10 by ladder-leading Penrith. He was reportedly tapped on the shoulder last week, yet still coached on Sunday.
"After seven years as head coach it is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement," Green said in a club statement.
"The board felt that the club was at a juncture where they needed to move in a different direction, and I can only respect their views.

His overall winning percentage is 53%. He actually has a higher win percentage in finals. The 2nd grand final they only made because of falling onto the 8. He is a very over-rated coach.

Sorry, but if you can make the Grand Final by simply 'falling into the 8' then I think you're deliberately mis-representing the results to support your own agenda.

Personally, I'm not certain he's a gun Coach, but there can be no diminishing the result he achieved in 2017 to get that side all the way to the Grand Final. It was a hell of an achievement at the time and regardless of where his Coaching career finishes up, he deserves the recognition for what he achieved in that season.

we need to push out Milf and Croft then throw big money at Widdop to play 6.
Hire a few reliable players such as Opacic and some players who’ll add to our forward pack.

He's one of the few fairly elite players that would be on the market, but I'm not sure we'd have the cash to be the top bidder, and without being the top bidder I'm not sure we're much chance to get him over the line given how much interest he would attract.

I think the goal with smith is to make sure the storm pay value for him and if we pick him up, all the better!
As for development coaches, I think Toovey, McGuire or even (wait for nashing teeth) Griffin would be applicable, though I still prefer Walters.
Who we get? It's anyone's guess.

Overrated?? I see a guy who has come into clubs ( including Wynnum ) who have a talented roster and gets the most out of them.

Possibly he is a little like Madge and can overstay his welcome but when he first arrives things happen. If Kevvie isn't the guy then Green most certainly is. I don't think our roster has lost the talent in a season so first thing is to change the coach before we throw everything away and start from scratch.

Green is a 3 year coach.

Forgive the expression, but I think the horse may have already bolted on that one.
