Brent Read has said we’re chipping in, usually if he says it, he has a reliable source for it. He probably knows even better than Lockyer does, given Darren has proven himself pretty clueless in his current role.
Hes slipped that far now that ch9 have karl fuckinovic interviewing bennett

I am hoping in our first game against the dragons next year, Lodge comes out and go's all New York on him.

I'm happy for both parties to move forward from this.

Nothing against Jack Bird personally, but this really was the worst Broncos signing in their history. Supposedly $3.6 million down the drain, effectively 6 times the punishment Cronulla received for cheating the salary cap all those years. The truth of the matter is, he only had a handful of games where he played well for the club. The Round 6 2018 vs. Warriors Round 2 2019 vs. Cowboys and Round 9 2019 vs. Sea Eagles where he incidentally did his ACL. The rest he was a non-factor missing key tackles or making crucial mistakes that really hurt the Broncos.

The key is where do the Broncos possibly go for a replacement? There really isn't a lot out there in the open market and the Broncos don't have a lot coming through either. Right now a Broncos backline would most likely look like 1. Tesi Niu 2. Xavier Coates 3. Jesse Arthars 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Jamayne Isaako - a QCup level backline if I've ever seen one.

Kevie is going to have to act quickly if he wants to be anything more than a stop-gap coach.
All those years? So so many years. What has Cronulla got to do with the Broncos paying out a contract? It's about as relevant as stating the 3.6m is 29.72 times less than a woman in Sydney (near Cronulla) won on the Lotto. So what? Cronulla's salary cap breach has absolutely nothing to do with the Broncos not getting great value from Bird. Unless of course it's just a kid lashing out.

It won't be announced but you can be sure Brisbane is covering up to 70% of this.
When it was put originally put forward I read somewhere that St George were offering 675 pa. I know I know it was reported that Saints only offered less than 300k but I don't believe it's factual.

I did see that reports were that the Saints had moved on after the Broncos allegedly insulted them but that should teach those that don't know that the media simply invent shit and reports should never spark a reaction other than piquing your interest.

It is worrisome that we are releasing players from our already slim centre options.

If the broncos did have to negotiate a release arrangement, i would be doing similar to what melb had been attempting to achieve with addo-car; arranging a swap for a player in a position we need.

Hopefully we at least have a plan what to do with the funds that we now have spare.

Yep the 'welcome' return of one Andrew McCullough.

Just highlighting the damage the signing caused in comparison to other clubs who systematically cheated the cap over a number of years.
Yes, that is a description of what you did.

Why? What's the connection between those completely separate matters? I don't see one. Comparison? What comparison, what's the link? We usually compare similar things. We compare laptops, fridges, things similar. We don't compare a house brick with a Starlink Satellite launch. That's because they are completely different although both cost money, one thing in common I suppose.

But if he has requested a release from it and we grant the release then the contract doesn’t exist anymore.

Clearly neither party could agree on the amount they had to carry so Bird has sacrificed the one year of big money for 2 years at a lower cost in the hope that that is enough time to revive his career.
I don't think that's how it works.

They always say the player has been released from their contract, but just because the player is released from their obligation, doesn't mean the club is released from their obligation.

In almost all of these cases, the club that releases the player / agrees to release the player, still pays a portion of the salary.

There is no way that Bird would leave a $950k a season deal for a 2 year deal of $600k.

Thats a shocking backline. A fullback who looks way out of his depth and needs a good year in ISC. A fullback on the wing, and another in the centers, a winger as a center and Xavier Coates who also needs a good year in ISC. Better hope Copley if signed stays fit.

Really depends who is more motivated to get the deal done.
Similar to Roberts leaving souths and looking for a contract outside of Sydney.

That’s not how it worked for the Titans with Boyd and Cartwright.

Regardless of the money we spent on him, and the severely limited game time he gave us, i am disappointed he is leaving.
I think he is a very talented player, and one we could really use in season '21 with our bunch of inexperienced troops.

Coates is playing origin, no way he goes back to cup
