If the NRL approve the Roosters $350k for Cordner it has to be used on a like for like player. $350k would go a long way to get you Brendan. He runs great lines like Cordner but is a much more brutal defender.

Has a great relationship with Sam too- they combined really well for Queensland Under 18 for Pereira's try.

Broncos have to keep him, hopefully Tweed mates Walsh and Dearden are enough.
I enjoy majority of your posts mate but please stop sprucing up those cheating Sydney *****. If they get cap relief for cordner and sign piakura then the whole system of trying for a level playing field is fucked.

Piakura will travel to Sydney this weekend for another meeting with Bulldogs head coach Trent Barrett where the gun forward will tour the club’s Belmore facilities.

Piakura gone?
**** me !! maybe we should just line up every piece of young talent we have on the footpath outside the Clive Berghofer Centre and let all these freakin' pirates just do a kerbside pick-up like the garbos do.

This sounds dramatic but I won’t watch for a year if this happens, the deck is stacked against us and nswrl will let anything fly to see broncos suffer for another 10 years. I can’t fucking deal with It anymore.

Yeah there really is no incentive for providing scholarships or training, performance programs to players or to do anything for any youth whatsoever. As soon as you have one that is decent, all the other vultures who contribute nothing in the area sweep in and snap them up. I really don't understand why the Broncos bother, they should just copy the Storm and Roosters model of swooping in on the 18 or 19 year olds who are starting to show real promise. We should be able to blow all other clubs out of the water this way.

No one is suggesting Billy Walters welfare is a concern. It's maybe he wants to play for the Broncos, be coached by his father, and as you suggest be closer to home. You can't just put this all on the Tigers as 'using it as extortion'. It's the Broncos that are going after a player already under contract not vice versa. And want it without providing any compensation for the Tigers.

Maybe Billy Walters should honor his contract at the Tigers. And the Broncos can sign him when he comes off contract if their still interested.
The welfare was along the lines of IF Walters is wanting to get out of his contract due to personal reason (ie. Head home to be closer to family given his career is stalling anyway), but the Tigers are trying to abuse the situation for an unrealistic offer.

How do we know it's the Broncos trying to steal a player and not the player manager coming to Broncos asking if we're interested because Billy wants to play in QLD?

He's a 27 depth utility on a minimum contract.. why exactly would we bother trying to poach him especially when almost every player we have in his position is better anyway.

A reversed scenario would be someone like Kennedy wanting to go to Sydney and the Tigers being interested, but us saying yeah sweet but you have to give us Simpkin in return or else he's not going anywhere.

You're 100% right, but you bet your life the second we abandoned our junior programs and adopted the clearly superior but soul-less Storm / Roosters model, the NRL would swoop in and it would magically become the North Melbourne Devils and the South Bondi Magpies and suddenly out of nowhere there would be huge incentives to provide for developing junior talent.

I for one am proud to be a fan of a team which actually builds the game, gives back to the community and develops young players. I'd rather go watch some awful sport like soccer before I supported a cheating, good-for-nothing, disgraceful excuse for a club like the Roosters.

That would be $350k for this year's salary cap... Piakura is already under contract for 2021

Nothing cheating about it. I'd expect the Broncos to get use of the money too.

Do you have to use it this year? What if at this late notice you can't find a like replacement? Surely you aren't forced to sign a player.

Roosters want him, and the Broncos have him. ****, we know how this goes.

May as well start packing. V'Landy's will probably send the NRL company limo to drive him down to Bondi.

I don't even know the Roosters care but I was just making the point it'd be a nice future replacement.

You totally should have to use it this year. What a ridiculous model if you don't. Let's just save it all up for all of our players who are granted injury cap exemptions and then boom, let's go sign a million dollar player in a couple of years.

Like we lost Bird for three seasons, so does that mean we get a spare $900k-$1 million to spend if we want to next year?

Bird wasn't injured in a rep game. You clearly couldn't do that because it has to be a like player so you can't save it up and use it collectively.

How are you finding a second rower like Cordner just sitting around in February? Foran came back early so the NRL didn't make the Dogs sign someone.

I don't see why there should be any exemption. Injuries happen, it's part of sport. Title challenges get derailed in every sport every season due to injuries. Use your juniors/development players to fill the gaps, that's literally what they are there for - they're the next in line.

The problem is that he was not JUST injured in the rep game. He had a number of head injuries throughout the year. They need to look at them all together and not just isolated to manipulate quite a good rule.

If you are applying for it it’s because you presumably need it this year, they are at no disadvantage next season when Cordner would likely be fit. If they can’t find anyone that’s their problem.

Surely you can see a problem with that? They can use their juniors they’ve developed to fill the void, oh wait they don’t develop anyone they just wait until a player is on the cusp of making the jump and pilfer them from another team.

According to Hooper Piakura is inspecting Bulldogs HQ this weekend and are going hard for him while the Titans are also in contention. We offered him 2 year $500k deal.

Ah well another one gone... wonder what we're gonna spend the $5m of cap space on for next year 🤔🤔🤔

So far Staggs gone, Coates gone, Piakura gone, Dearden now gone... Riki's off contract as well so can't wait to see who the DT link him too!!

Who else is off contract in this team that should be going elsewhere 🤔🤔

Staggs ✅
Coates ✅
Dearden ✅
Piakura ✅

Just waiting on Riki for my "Broncos superstar on the move" bingo
