Round 9 - Cowboys vs Broncos

Isaako isn’t a big time player. In these tight games I just have zero confidence in him.

I would replace literally every single player in our spine. Every single one of them would be pushing shit up hill to get a game at any other club.

The spine is an issue. Turpin is just a younger, less good version of Macca. Our halves do decent, but they cant ice a game and our fullback seems to do two bad things for every good thing he does.
In attack I have to disagree, our spine wasn't that bad, in defense though isaako was pretty woeful in the 2nd half, Turps wasn't asking enough questions either.

But our issue was errors easily more then anything else, our attack when firing hasn't looked this good since Bennett.

Huge game for the forwards and the backs. Put a competent spine in that team tonight and you have a top 8 team.

That was a fun game until the last ten minutes.

We played well, but watching that it's pretty clear where our deficiencies are. They're certainly not physical because we are fit and strong, it's all mental game.

- Milford doesn't put in the 1% plays ever... and the cowboys successfully targetted him... Valentine got through him on the play where Granville nearly scored and Clifford ran around him on the game losing play.
- Bench usage better but still a bit off, Turpin needed a spell and I think Kennedy could have had another go, he was playing well tonight.
- Lack of game management at the end, it looked like Gamble hurt himself, so I'm not going to be too hard on him, but he definitely went into his shell... Probably would have been better to put Levi on and shift Turps to 7 when that happened.
- Don't know how to win... this is a big one.. just play high % play when you're in front in a tight one... Instead we saw terrible ball security... we just play dumb under pressure
- Isaako loves to make an error when we really don't need it (same with flegler, but not tonight)

Otherwise all the forwards were pretty good I thought, bit sloppy toward the end but Lodge, Haas, TPJ all stood out. Our bench was great , just used ineffectively. Backs still playing like individuals, but good when they do work it together... Especially Farnworth and Oates, they got no feel for each other's game. Spine was our weakest point - again - Turpin is okay but he isn't 80mins. Milf is okay in attack and lazy in D. Gamble, dunno... Seems serviceable. Isaako... Rocks n diamonds but mainly rocks tonight. If he had a good game we would have won.

At the end of the day, we should have scored far more points in the first 40.

I say it every week. We don't build pressure and get repeat sets enough. We either hand it over or go for the hail mary. There's no calming head telling them to dribble it into the in goal and get a repeat set.

I'm backing Isaako, time will fix his errors.
Rocks and diamonds, and the rocks are being chipped away with experience.

Give it 2 years and he will be one of the best in the comp i reckon.
Agree. I noticed he was supporting in the middle tonight, he took the offload from Flegler, unfortunately stuffed it from there, but he’s improving with every game.

My issue with Isaako is that you know when the pressures on he wants to be the hero nobody asked for.

The short kick off was prime example. He just needed to kick it deep. He does it every week. He needs to play his part. A clutch player like Reynolds would be great for Isaako because they could tell him to **** off when the games on the line.

I'm all for calling out how useless Isucko is, but you can't blame the short kickoff on him. It's clearly a decision from the coach.

If you say so, his defense needs work, no doubt about it, but he is a machine in attack ( re-watch the game vs the Titans if you need a reminder).
Re-watch his game against the Titans, and almost every other game he has played at 1, to notice how much of a liability he is. Having a good right foot step isn't enough to be a fullback.
