Round 10 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

As usual, despite all the players put on report across 2 games the only ones to be charged were Broncos.

It’s just all in our heads I’m sure... 🙄

Well until you present a reasoned argument otherwise, yes.
Here’s the issue, like everything in life nothing is black and white yet you are trying to approach it this way.

Would we have lost last night regardless of the refs? Absolutely, there is no doubt in my mind about that. We are a bad team, everyone knows this.

Does that make what the refs and the game are doing right? No it doesn’t. It is one thing to say that both teams are playing under the same rules but in this environment a good team will kill a bad team because you cannot get momentum back. Also they are not applying the rules evenly. I saw at least 3 high shots from Manly that were as bad or worse than our 2 sin binnings that didn’t even get a penalty.

The Broncos are bad but so are the refs and the game is being destroyed.

In terms of people not arguing the point with you it may be with the way you are approaching this with a fairly hostile tone.

I think Turps missed having Patty there to help share the tackling load last night. Hopefully Glenn will be back to fill the void. Kennedy shone again with his diving defence around the legs. Wish the other forwards would take note. Oates needs to do more sprint work. Or is it time to put Bootsie Farnsworth back to fullback Isaako to the wing and Corey to the bench?

2 weeks ago Oates ran 90m to score a try. Saab is the quickest in the comp, he was always going to burn Oates with space.

I can't believe the amount of posts on here blaming the refs. Yeah 2 binnings were rubbish, we were already being pumped.

I'm amazed. You single out the ONLY GUY in our team who scored and that's who you whinge about. In fact, the guy who put points on the board WITHOUT assistance AND he's the one you choose to criticize!!!

Perhaps if Isaako's team mates had done their jobs as your Manly crush's team mates clearly did he might have had a great game too.

I am not interested in points from individual efforts from isaako. He's a good attacking strike player who is simply not up to top class FB play. He belongs in the centres or wing - positions commensurate with his excellent skills and abilities.

As I said, you want good FB play? Then you know who to watch, and it ain't Isaako.

8 sin bins and the only guy facing time off isn't being suspended for what lead to him being sin binned. Fucking joke.
Is the review committee independent of the NRL?

they could revolt the changes on behalf of the wider community but not charging anyone.

it is supposed to be ... but this is the NRL

It’s a good start that none of the sin bins got charged then. it highlights how fucking stupid the situation is.

I get the Milford agenda, but he isnt the coach, he doesnt set the team up, thats Kevvie and the coaches. Last night was nothing to do with whatever Milfords failings are ( and tbf, i thought he actually put in a fair bit, he just wasnt great ). Firstly, the way we were on the end of refs decisions had an impact, but what we shouldnt forget is that across the board we just played dumb footy. Johns and Slater made the point Manly played with set plays and structures. We dont. We just go out on to the field and hope things come off. We dont have a game plan.

The mess we are in now is not a simple as lets blame Milford for everything and bag him at every opportunity the same as that wasnt the case for Boyd when it was happening with him. We rely on Kevvies passion and commitment, and while that will get you so far, it has to be combined with some solid attacking and defensive structures and set plays. Thats the thing i'm most critical of Kevvie for at the moment, we dont look like those are being developed.
Milf agenda? You think he put in ?
Well I don't, not at all, he resorted to the same thing he always does and that is kicking duties. It is his easy out. It is not an agenda it is a reality, no support play, sloppy passing, poor dedence, jogging back into line, less then 5 runs, how many touches did he have. He is not the reason we lost but his performance was unacceptable. His job is to get those structures going that the coach has worked out and if you think Kev has no set plays your kidding yourself. We have the worst spine going, that is why the set plays breakdown, just re watch the first half and you will see the timing was shot, Milf actually put his hands up like what am i supposed to be doing when Gamble went to pass to him. Somebody was completely missing on the set play Gamble tossed to nobody. We have a lot of issues and Kev aint it. ... YEt.

Riki's crusher was a non-farken event, there was arms around necks and across shoulders all farken night, and they pick that one out at random.

FFS............players at speed and with the strength they have can fall all different sorts of ways in tackles, the NRL wanted the game fast, well they got it fast...................... now they are crucifying players for minor mistakes or timing under major fatigue and at speed..........................this is farken insane!

Do we have set plays?

In all seriousness, what you say is part of the issue. For all his failings, Milford didnt get his big contract on the back of being an organising half and game manager. He did it on chiming in at the right time next to a half back who did that for him. He has never been this half we are currently looking for, he isnt an organiser. None of our halves are, and we dont even have a hooker who can offer anything in that department either. Like i said, i get the criticism of Milford. He has been poor and we wont keep him on after 2021, i just think we are all expecting him to be something he isnt based on his salary.
We had set plays in the last two games, in this game it looked like they forgot what game they where playing.

We dip far too much when things don't go our way, it's embarrassing how soft we are.

Do we really not have a game plan or are our players too dumb to follow a plan? Because we’ve had 3 coaches now in 5 years and still it’s the same crap each week. One out hit ups, bomb on the last and missed tackles galore.

So, good play like tackle busts? Tries? Line breaks? Try assists? So, as a player not up to top class fb play his stats should back that up I suppose...except they don't.

Of course you're going to say his stats don't mean anything but equally neither does Troybitch's. It's weird how good stats for a despised player don't matter but fir a favoured son, they mean a lot.

Just for the record, that shit fullback has 41 tackle busts in ten games. 4.1 per game.

Turbo has a better average but why? That's because his were gathered against the Titans, WestTigers, Warriors and Broncos. Against the quality team, Penrith he made 3 tackle busts and did bugger all else. Isaako on the other hand plays for the wooden spooners who have played against the premium teams and even against Penrith managed 4 tackle busts. So, he's going alright especially considering he's contributed 66 points out of our total of 146. That's 80 points amongst the other 22 odd team mates. Yep, he's shit .

And for those self-professed 'balanced' posters in this thread saying people are blaming the refs for the result, I don't think most people are but I would like your genuine thoughts on a couple of things last night:

1. The was it even really penalty worthy call back after giving a FULL set of six to Manly.
2. Gamble being penalised for tackling too hard.
3. The Manly player running off the mark and playing it sideways and receiving a penalty.
4. The Manly held-up no try and clearly going into touch but getting the ball back.

Thoughts on these key moments? Were they the correct calls?
