NEWS Brisbane to Bennett: it's not you, it's us

Wayne enjoys being an enigma. He loves playing games with the media and having them all certain he will do one thing, only to do another.

I do hope he comes back though, wayne is a core part of the broncos DNA and having him in the club in any capacity increases the clubs appeal to players and junior players
Well, my two bedder at Kirra is weeks away from completion and WB did mention he's looking for a place for Reno and himself. They can afford the rent. You heard here first.

They wanted to sit the coaches down in front of the general public to answer questions.
Yeah who actually thought that was a good idea??

Probably voted for by the DT readers under "What would you like to see at magic round this year?"

Did they not see Corey Parker getting swamped by drunks outside Suncorp earlier this year??

I will admit, seeing Bennett interacting (or not) with the public would have been comedy gold.

Every coach would have just been sitting there exactly as they would in a presser in the open air out front of Suncorp getting peppered with god knows what from the unwashed.
Primary question "Why are you such a cuuuuunt??"

Drunk On One GIF

Even if it went ahead the questions would have been from plants anyway. I have serious doubts the nrl would allow the plastered majority to be there agitating shit, though who knows really. It was probably to be conducted behind a fenced off area.

Whatever V’Landys wants is where Wayne will go.. #Rub-baleegue

Kevin Walters:

“I wouldn’t have a problem with Wayne coming back. That would be a decision for the club to make, but I don’t have a problem with it. I get on well with everyone."

“We all know what Wayne brings. I have no issue at all. I just want what’s best for the Broncos. But that is something the club and Wayne need to sort out.”

Bennett:

“I appreciate Kevin’s words. It’s nice to know he feels that way about me. We’ve always had a strong relationship. I’m coming back to Brisbane but I’ve made no decisions about what my future holds.
“All I know is I’m coming back.”

Robber baron Peter V’landys:

“Wayne is Queensland rugby league. He is the definition of Queensland. When you say Queensland rugby league, the first thing you think of is Wayne Bennett. A successful Broncos are essential for the health of rugby league. Broadcast revenue is what sustains us and without TV money, we don’t have a sport. To dominate Queensland, we need the Broncos, the Titans and Cowboys to be strong to guarantee viewers in that state. We can’t just rely on NSW fans to be a robust sport. The Broncos are critical to our product so I would love to see them fight back as a club.”

Corey Oates:

“One of the reasons I turned into the player I have been is because of Wayne. I’d be over the moon if he came back. Look at what Wayne does with the teams he goes to. He can get the best out of them. “’Kevvie’ is similar. With Kevvie the passion has come back. They’d be a great combination together.”

QRL chairman Bruce Hatcher:

“I would be grabbing Wayne Bennett as the foundation coach of a second Brisbane team. I believe he offers more value to them than going back to the Broncos for a third time. The Broncos need to develop a plan that extends beyond Wayne Bennett. Kevvie is making progress. He deserves the opportunity to put his mark on the Broncos and while Wayne would do a great job back at the Broncos, he would be a great foundation coach for a new franchise.”

the club really does owe Bennett, should he choose, to finish his career with us and end it with the dignity and respect such a career deserves, and which was denied him by the previous front office.

Id be absolutely delighted to welcome him back.

Only Phil Gould has as much pull within the game than WB; why do you think the Warriors made a play for him? They are in a similar situation to us and they are trying to think long term by appointing Gould.

This would simply be our version of that. This make almost too much sense...

Get it done...

Does Hatcher have any involvement with any of the consortiums bidding for the new licence?
(I know he played for easts who are behind the fire hawks bid)

There is a Telegraph Sport post saying Bennet back to Broncos will not go ahead.

Anyone got more info?
